The commies are so diabolically brilliant that they knew they needed a human focus in ridiculing Americans’ backward idea that communists could be up to anything diabolical. The red media and textbook publishers made McCarthy this symbol. With his “square” appearance and demeanor in the age of Elvis, Joe McCarthy was the personification of the hateful, narrow-minded, anti-marxist, bigoted American. No one wanted to think what McCarthy thought, right? My son pointed out that when he was in public school fifth grade during the late 1990s, a full week of his American history course was dedicated to ridiculing Joe McCarthy and the “deadly” red scare. This was 40 years after McCarthy died! No accident there, folks — willful indoctrination!
