DETROIT (AP) Chris Mathews crew showed up this month to demolish one of the thousands of vacant homes destined for demolition as part of Detroits grand plan to bulldoze its way to prosperity when a call from his office stopped them in their tracks: Someone was living there.
A middle-aged woman who watched the crew tear away the homes warped wooden steps the day before had called their company, Adamo Demolition, to point out she was living on the second floor, despite no power, heat or gas and a flooded basement.
It was like a swimming pool. We would never have thought anybody was upstairs, said Mathews, noting that the incident cost his crew time because the demolition wasnt called off until after they had shown up with their equipment.

Abandonminiums................ LOL...
NOW thats funny.. funny in a pitiful sort of way..
This word should be shouted from the HOUSE TOPS....
They’re gonna have to go somewhere because the abandoned houses gotta go. I hear California or Colorado are nice this time of year.

The White House is surely a “ Traitorminum “...
and the pentagon a Sedition-orium..
And the federal Unions are a toilet.. of corruption..
at all levels.. all agencys.. from boss to worker bee..
AND STILL.. No Revolt.. the apathy of “the people” is pathogenic..
Hawaii
Rats don’t care too much where they live.
So I’m wondering why Chris “tingle down my thigh” Matthews and his crew was filming in detriotistan...
You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here.
Its kind of funny but they’re already starting to complain about “gentrification” in Detroit even though whites aren’t moving into the worst neighborhoods. The young whites moving in prefer the more expensive “trendy” apartments closer to downtown.
Abandonminiums...the new home style. Spreading soon to your neighborhood blue areas....
i got a plan...
one that would actually work, and cost the state little to no cash..
the outline is as follows:
detroit has neighborhood and it has area’s with very few houses...
get the prisoners who have skills to rehab houses in the neighborhoods..call it the 2 for 1 program.. 2 days off your sentence for every 12 hour day you work..
start with the streets that have 1 house left, offer the owners a straight up trade for the renovated house..
the state kicks in by offering no property taxes on said home as long as the person or their heirs live there..
it would be their home to sell or live in, at their choice..
demolish the entire street, and do this by the area..
the city could then cut and cap services, and block off streets..
the area’s now patrolled by police, fire, ambulance, city services and so on has now decreased...
continue until all nearly abandoned area’s are nothing but wilderness..
then, surround with a fence, and turn into either a state park, or lease to farmers...
who loses in this deal???
Around here we have a score of contractor/builders/handymen who will come and take an old house down for nothing if they get to keep the materials.
I am sure there are such people in Michigan.
Abandonminiums
synonym: “Obamaminiums”
One person stubs a toe or a puncture wound, I hurt back...
Asbestos, lead base paint, animal droppings...
Good luck with OSHA and insurance, minimum wage,0bamacare...
Detroit is interesting to watch for anyone paying real attention. Hitting bottom has forced the city to do a 180 and accept a lot of free market reforms.
That, and a GOP controlled state have increased business investments by more than 100% since 2013. New corporate offices and trendy stores are being announced every week. For instance Carhartt just announced the opening of a new store in the midtown area. Google bigwigs have been looking at downtown buildings for months and have office running out of the Quicken loans HQ now. Lots of tech jobs moving into Detroit these days.
The simple fact is that its considerably cheaper to do business in Detroit than it is in Chicago or NY and those cities are only going to get more expensive
Oh yeah I forgot, its the Gub’ment they are dealing with. All logic and common sense is tossed out the equation as SOP...
Hire an Israeli demolition firm to give ‘em the ol’ “Rachel” treatment.
Colorado is still a swing State. As much as it pains me to say it, it's better that they come here. Let the liberals live with what they've made. Colorado may still be savable.
