Approximately 30 conservative House Republicans are launching a new caucus designed to advance the needs of the people over the special interests and do everything possible to help Republicans keep their campaign promises on immigration, Obamacare and more.
The House Freedom Caucus officially launched Monday night. Rep. Raul Labrador, R-Idaho, is one of the founding members. He said there are multiple reasons why the Freedom Caucus is needed, starting with the need to keep priorities straight in Washington.
We want a freedom agenda, an agenda that represents the people back home, he said.

When Boehner was up for re-election for the Speaker's chair, literally thousands of Idahoans contacted Labrador and insisted the he vote for someone other than Boehner. We knew that with Boehner as Speaker, the two main issues of the last election, Obamacare and the Executive Amnesty, would NOT be overturned.
Even though he had not voted for Boehner last time, he voted for him this time. Why? Has Boehner suddenly become better?
Any Republican who voted for Boehner might as well have signed the Executive Amnesty and Obamacare legislation along with Obama.
I will do everything in my power to find and support a real conservative to run against Labrador in the next GOP primary. This interview is his attempt to placate those who now understand that what he does is far more important than what he says.
” Why? Has Boehner suddenly become better?”
No, but Labrador suddenly got richer.
I can relate to you being through with Labrador; I’m through with Trey Gowdy. Gowdy did not even have the balls to show up for the Speaker vote. He is nothing but a media whore, IMO.
Sounds like another Con,just enough to do absolutely nothing
Always have to have a few sacrificial lambs to shoot their mouths off to keep defections from exploding.
That’s was I was thinking.
But you have to vote Republican otherwise Harry Reid and Barack Obama win!
All the Boehner vote did was prove what was obvious before November: the Republicans have no intention of standing for any principle.
(remember that they were promising amnesty before the election — and how many voted for them anyway? enough to win them the Senate.)
Good move. Now dissociate from the Republican Caucus.
Not yet. He still has to perform for the Reid credentialing committee but he knows where lifetime security and wealth lies. He knows that if he goes along with the System and loses his re-election attempt he will still be on Easy Street for life.
Who can’t wait to vote GOP in 2016? /sarc
It doesn’t matter whether a turncoate gets turned out at his next election. If ALL of them are turned out and only fanatic pure Conservatives are elected to replace them, 90% will jump through the System hoop as soon as they get to Washington. Counting on national elections for anything at this point is a fool’s game and just keeps people from making the moves and preparations that are now necessary.
Cantor just got paid off.

More smoke! More mirrors! More great swelling bombastic rhetoric!
Watch me pull a rabbit out of THIS hat.
Harry Reid and the Sultan did win. Harry Reid still effectively controls the Senate through his cat’s paw McConnell. Republicans do not know how to be a majority. They believe in their bones that the Democrats are the natural ruling party and that Republicans just need to get control from time to time to straighten out the Democrat messes, to make the books look a little better. They do not even perform that service anymore.
I agree with everything except the underlined, it is clear to me that the Republicans have proved by their actions that they are in full agreement with the Democrats.
They don't even believe in the need to make the books look better
, look at how they passed the funding bill before the new congress was sworn in.
Look at how they continue to fund the NSA's domestic spying, even proposing extending the 'authorization' for them.
Look at how they approve of the IRS's political targeting, even saying that Tea Party types should be targeted.
Look at how they allow/encourage all manner of regulations from the executive agencies.
No, they're happy being part of the elite.
They don't care about you or your opinions, just so long as you give them your vote.
The part you underlined is the past- the Republicans up to Newt. I said after that they don’t even do that anymore. They haven’t since Newt.
Thanks for the post Doc Thorn. I have been watching this. Can’t help but feel it is window dressing to keep the cretins from hollering so much. Going to take a lot more than words to fix their standing.
If Labrador had done this BEFORE the election of Boner as speaker, I could see it having meaning.
