You bet! I know a Sikh that is 100% American and will defend this country to the death. He takes a lot of heat because the way he looks. He blows it off!

As you are no doubt aware, Sikhs are not muslim. I know some Sikhs as well, and they are wonderful people. It is too bad that they get a bad rap for the mistakes people not aware of their culture make.
Sikhs carry ceremonial knives on their traditional dress. IIRC the knife represents their tradition of being armed so as to defend themselves against muslims.
