Egypt’s largest and most visited shopping center, City Stars, has been evacuated and shut down after a credible bomb threat.

According to AMAY and Youm7, security forces shut down the shopping center after a bomb threat was received.

Youm7, meanwhile, reported that two bombs had been successfully defused at ‘Gate 1′ and ‘Gate 7′. Bomb disposal teams are currently combing the shopping center and near by areas for other explosives, reported Youm7.

Al-Masry Al-Youm, however, reports a bomb was located on the third floor of the shopping center.

Twitter users at the scene meanwhile said security employees are reporting up to three bombs were located or are suspected in three different locations either inside the shopping center or at one of its entrances.

About 10 years ago I was talking to one of my daughters and said that frequent bombings at places like malls would be more harmful to the psyche of the public than 9-11.

Lord knows what’s ahead.

Head of Cairo’s fire department said explosives’ experts defused a bomb at City Stars, a huge shopping mall in Nasr City district east of the capital on Monday afternoon.

Speaking to Reuters’ Aswat Masriya, Major General Mamdouh Abdel-Kader stated that security forces had evacuated the building and closed the surrounding road after a bomb was found in a bathroom inside the mall.

Different parts of Egypt saw protests on Sunday on the fourth anniversary of the 2011 revolution, during which around 23 people - including three policemen - lost their lives.

BTW, Mark Knoller tweeted Michelle Obama will not attend Obama dinner with new Saudi King:

Following dinner at the Saudi palace tomorrow, Pres Obama heads back to the US. WH schedule shows Mrs Obama doesn't attend the dinner.

NEW DELHI: Indian officials were left stumped on Sunday as First Lady Michelle Obama did not accompany the US President either for the ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan or his visit to Raj Ghat. Unconfirmed reports said she wasn't well.

Michelle stayed put in the grand presidential suite of ITC Maurya for almost the entire day after arriving in Delhi before finally making an appearance at the President's dinner at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Interestingly, the last time the Obamas visited India in 2010, Michelle had accompanied her husband both to the ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan as well as to Raj Ghat.

The wife of the Chinese President XI Jinping had also accompanied her husband to both these events in September. Indian officials said they are unsure why Michelle did not come for the events.

“We do not know why she didn't come. We were frankly stumped. We had factored in her presence at both events,” a senior government official told ET, strictly on the condition of anonymity.

Still no word on why Obama was missing his “Indonesian” wedding ring in India. Wonder if it turns up in Saudi Arabia.

Could be.

Well, she made it to high tea.

And, she showed up for the free stuff.

http://www.asianage.com/india/michelle-obama-gifted-pashmina-shawl-special-tea-set-211

US First Lady Michelle Obama got a pashmina shawl from Kashmir with an intricate embroidery as gift from President Pranab Mukherjee’s wife Suvra Mukherjee. Michelle received the hand embroidered shawl in ivory and turquoise colour from the President’s spouse when the visiting VVIP couple met the Mukherjees at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday evening.
President Mukherjee also gifted her a specially-designed tea set with murals of the Rashtrapati Bhavan by famous Lucknow painter Sukumar Bose on it with January 25, 2015 inscribed on it.
