An Egyptian appeals court on Monday convicted a doctor of manslaughter and performing female genital mutilation that led to the death of a 13-year-old girl, sentencing him to two years and three months in prison in the country’s first case that came to trial over the widespread practice

“Two years and three months”? Don’t they have ASBOs in Egypt?
It seems the Egyptians are breaking the Modern Islam mold. Look at this from Gateway:

Because Islamic law bans wishing non-Muslims well on their religious celebrations, all previous presidents — Nasser, Sadat, Mubarak, and of course Morsi — had never attended Coptic Christmas mass.
As expected, the greetings el-Sisi received from the hundreds of Christians present were jubilant. His address was often interrupted by applause, clapping, and cheers of “We love you!” and “Hand in hand” — phrases he reciprocated. He said, among other things:

Once again, the generals who deposed Obama’s chosen Islamic dictator show they want to be part of the future, not the Dark Ages. The GOP needs to remind Americans that Hillary also wanted the clit-cutters in power. “War on Women” Islamic style.
Also, wouldn’t be great for Boehner to invite al-Sisi to speak to Congress.
Al-Sisi and Obama hate each other.
Double face palm. Now who would those rights groups be? The Muslim Brotherhood? ISIS? Al Qaida?
I'm not sure even Jimmy Carter would describe them as rights groups.
Does the young girl who died have any rights?
Let's see, the doctor got 27 months and will probably be out in 7, had to pay $70, and the girl's own father got a draconian 3-MONTH sentence, SUSPENDED. A 13-year-old girl is dead, and this is what her life was worth.
