I always got double-pay if I worked on a holiday like this ... :-) ...
If I didn’t get double time I got it in an extra day of paid time off that I would bank till summer.
One year I got triple pay AND an hour for hour paid time off. I worked a 12 hour shift!
In the power industry, you always have Christmas and Fourth of July outages for maintenance. As a salaried engineer working for a supplier, I never got an extra dime. Always rankled me working side-by-side with the union plant crews who were hauling in double-time.
Me too and no unions involved. It's the way it used to be.
