The only reason a retail store would be open on Thanksgiving or Christmas is that their customers want to go shopping on Thanksgiving or Christmas.

Therefore, we can logically conclude that the customers -- i.e., the general public -- don't care very much about the "family values" this CA legislator is espousing, based on her own logic.

The retailers aren't driving this. The customers are. This is the natural result of a consumerist mindset and an economy built on excessive consumer spending, and where everything else takes a back seat.

Really? Then what are those huge ad sections, telling all the customers that the big boxes are going to be open come hell or high water?
