David has his sights set on another Goliath.
After taking down then House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in a primary last year, Rep. Dave Brat (R-VA) is aiming to slay a border bill from House Homeland Security Committee chairman Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX)a bill Brat says is a Trojan Horse for amnesty.
A border security bill should do what its name suggests and this thing the McCaul bill still leaves enforcement in President Obamas hands, Brat said in a radio interview on The John Fredericks Show a local Virginia radio programon Thursday. So is that where you want to leave authority? If you read through the bill, theres no enforcement that really draws a stark line and does anything with folks crossing the border.
Brat joins Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), the newly appointed chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committees subcommittee on immigration, in explaining that McCauls bill fails to secure the border.
Brat adds that McCauls measure is actually part of a bigger plan by some in the Republican Party who want to use it as a fig leaf that then allows them to push amnesty through Congress. In essence, Brat is defining a vote by any Republican member of Congress for the McCaul bill as a vote for amnesty.
It does not secure the border, Brat said. It leaves authority in the hands of President Obama on that issue. And just look at what President Obama has done with ObamaCare, etc. and hes riding roughshod over the law. And were going to give $10 billion dollars to leave the authority in the hands of someone who already doesnt want to enforce the border?

Boehner really, REALLY misses Eric Cantor!!!
Dave Brat is destined for great things.
As a Virginian, I look forward to voting for him for the Senate.
Well, Mr. Brat, enforcement of ALL federal laws is the responsibility of the president.
If a certain president FAILS to properly enforce federal law, then the thing to do is IMPEACH him, not avoid passing laws.
It is not constitutionally possible for congress to pass a law that leaves enforcement under the purview of congress (and I like it that way).
Do your job, sir - ALL of it. Including impeaching the president if he is not following the law.
good. at least that contribution was well spent.
I like him too, except he appears to be a little fuzzy on the whole separation of powers thing.
as always with politicians, the first thing is to grab any handy monkey wrench and throw it into the works. delay, delay, delay. their strategy will be to ram it through asap.
As a Texan, I can’t thank you guys enough for ousting Cantor, that election will be our template for primarying RINOs like McCaul himself. Looks like we have about 30 reps to primary in TX alone, after the Boehner vote, and the process needs to start NOW.
Dave Brat taking down Mike McCaul ping
Expect to see Mike crying on FNC any minute.
and as an additional benefit squeeze out Mr Blum from this gobmint contract.
Good for Congressman Brat! McCaul is a fake conservative when he runs for office in Texas. When he gets to D.C., he’s just another GOPe lackey. He needs to be primaried by a TEA Party candidate in 2016.
With good hair.
Time to extract a good Economics Prof out of his district and Cantor him.
“Dave Brat is destined for great things.”
You’re right, Brat may turn out to be a genuine star. So far, he has been true to his word and has not backed down.
Let’s just hope he is not coopted by the Republican establishment mafia.
Ditto.
Well said.
I highly recommend that anyone on it “
friend” Brat on Face Book.
He’s genuine...
