This level of incompetence and cowardice should alarm us all.
If Republicans cant pass wildly popular legislation protecting innocent unborn children, whats going to happen when they face difficult legislative battles? Its best to view this as a very simple test for House Republicans. A test they failed miserably.
In an essay at National Affairs, Michael Needham looks at the contrast between the grassroots and party establishment. He talks about the fight over the reauthorization of the Export-Import Bank, a fund for corporate welfare. The establishment fought against the grassroots tooth and nail in order to keep the bank. There have been similar fights over agriculture subsidies and Fannie Mae and Freddie Macs influence in the housing market. The moneyed interests fight against the conservative insurgents and the donor class usually wins.

There can be no question but that Boehner and his minions are moral cowards, compromised by the blackmailing Obama administration. These so called leaders do not represent the great swath of American voters. They, too, must be impeached or recalled.
Neither does life have a voice, “when money talks”.
‘This level of incompetence and cowardice should alarm us all.’
It’s the Boehner way. He’s been doing the exact same thing for years. That’s why we clamored for a change in leadership. The DC phone lines melted down. & the Republican politicians gave us the middle finger.
The same thing will keep on happening until a few high profile figures, such as Boehner, lose their primaries. Cantor was a good start. We need several more, before we’ll have their undivided attention. [If there’s anything left to salvage by then.]
It’s not incompetence; it’s being done on purpose.
There's another explanation: they agree with the policies and stances that their opposition
(the Democrats) endorse.
These so called leaders do not represent the great swath of American voters.
So?
They're elite and you're not.
You've given them your vote, so you've served your purpose — you are now of no use until the next election where OH MY GOD, IT'S THE MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION EVER! YOU HAVE TO VOTE REPUBLICAN OR THE DEMOCRATS WILL WIN!!!
(Yes, you should be angry.)
They, too, must be impeached or recalled.
They can't be — you see, they are federal employees
and therefore not accountable to the States.
We could fix this, but it would require some changes.
That goes back to when they held the Presidency and the Legislature under Bush.
They haven't stood up for anything they say they're for in the the last decade (excepting, perhaps, as a kabuki play right after Sandy Hook where the elites saw that passing the gun control would spark CWII and hit the "abort" button).
I really believe that the left has been using its tried-and-true tactic of infiltration on the Republican party. It’s worked on everything else, up to, most recently, the formerly staunchly conservative bastion of the military, and on nominal Christianity.
If there is any strategy involved... which I doubt... it is to not do anything that will energize the opposition so that they will not bother showing up during the next election. It is similar to Obama’s foreign policy of “leading from behind”.
I have to grant that that’s a remote possibility, but what purpose does it serve in holding fast to conservative principles? It gets them re-elected, but to what purpose?
The country club set isn’t bothered by abortions anymore.
That could be it. Just as likely is the Boehner Way, summarized: ‘Don’t rock the boat; don’t upset the applecart; maintain the status quo.’
Boehner thinks he’s in DC to get along with his fellow Permanent Political Classers, of both parties, amass wealth, wield power, play golf and enjoy drinks at the country club. Anything that poses the least threat to these ends must be massively and quickly crushed. Anything that furthers these ends must be promulgated.
Hence the problem. Both Boehner and McConnell need to go, for starters. All their closest associates, lieutenants and enablers must also go.
Odds of getting that done are low. But it is our only hope.
Bingo! Been saying this for years, but I guess it makes us feel better if they are just stupid.
That's self-evident, I think.
Its worked on everything else, up to, most recently, the formerly staunchly conservative bastion of the military, and on nominal Christianity.
It's a sad thing those two are compromised, particularly the latter as it essentially confirms the title of this book.
The only solution to this mess is a third party movement but most conservatives don't have the stomach for it.
“There can be no question but that Boehner and his minions are moral cowards, compromised by the blackmailing Obama administration.”
Careful here. When you mention blackmail, you are giving them an out, an excuse. They are moral cowards, period. No excuse.
Conservatives will deny Republicans the Presidency in 2016.
