For the second time since 1998, we are told, the academy named no nominees of color in the five important individual categories. We also learned that the 7,000 academy members, according to a 2013 Los Angeles Times report, are 93 percent white and 76 percent male. Obviously, racial insensitivity-if not racism.
Are these the same bigoted folk who last year awarded 12 Years A Slave best picture, with best supporting actress going to Lupita Nyongo? And what about the major Oscar nominations for films like The Help and other awards garnered by films like The Butler? And never mind that the current president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is a black female.

This dispute demonstrates that the only court where ability and skill are rewarded without regard to affirmative action, diversity and racial demographics is the basketball court.
Maybe the movie just stunk?
Making propaganda flicks about incidents that are barely a half century old is a very tricky proposition.
Many of us are old enough to remember the incidents in question, and not so old so as to forget them!
It doesn’t matter that we cite examples of other movies with black actors or black racial subject matter. All that matters is that there weren’t enough nominees this year. There have to be a certain number each year to pass muster with Al Sharpton.
And, Oprah was supposed to be deified for her getting behind the Selma movie and telling a story from our history. It was supposed to have been perceived as an epic historical movie. It was supposed to have numerous Oscar nominations.
Just being nominated for best picture for Selma was not good enough to make Al Sharpton happy. And the only possible reason for this “disrespect” of Selma is racism. If you are liberal and a race baiter these are the criteria.
I guess Hollywood isn’t as “evolved” and “tolerant” and all that other stuff that they proclaim they are.
“I suppose that d.c. needs to impose some eeoc regs on the academy”
Yep. Next revive the Motion Picture production Code and appoint Al Sharpton as the new Will Hay.
After all, he was the first to call out both no baloney Sony and the Motion Pichur Cadamy. Lots of money there for both him and Obama.
First it was Nigro or Niger, which comes from "black" in Latin, then it was Colored, (as if all the other people have none?) then it was Black, then African-American (but that ran into problems because a white south african person emigrating here is also african-american, right?). So now we've almost come full circle with whatever of Color.
the Left wants permanent "revolution". Permanent chaos and disorder so they can divide and rule at their whim. And of all the people, the blacks have been the most harmed by the Left - the true racists in our society. The Dems supported slavery, segregation, lynching, and family and economic destruction through welfare and minimum wage laws. Leftism must be artificially imposed while conservative capitalism occurs naturally in a free people.
Sit back and let the left devour their own.
It seems the movie was “judged by the content of its character” rather than the color of its actors.
The movie drags on and is NOT A VERY GOOD MOVIE!!!
Larry Elder is as usual, outstanding. Thanks for posting this.
Ah, but how many of those are Queer? Wouldn't that increase the percentage of Women and decrease the percentage of MEN? How dare the LA Slimes use such an outdated definition of sex, have they in fact asked these 76% just how they define their sexualty?
Some people and groups of people whine and whine. If you give in to them, they only demand more.
It was terrible!
