Jim VandeHei sees dead people. On today's Morning Joe, the Politico honcho agreed with Joe Scarborough's suggestion that Chris Christie is like Bruce Willis in The Sixth Sense: [politically] dead but doesn't know it.
Ironically, Scarborough distanced himself from his own suggestion, twice saying that he didn't believe it. But when he asked his guest if the characterization was fair, Vandehei replied "I think it is. At best he's a live man stumbling."

Is Chris Christie politically dead? Politico’s VandeHei thinks so. Ping to Today show list.
That’s essentially what ive been suggesting. The GOP’s big money donors know that they can’t divide their support among three candidates, so someone has to be the odd man out. Given his lack of appeal to the base and to folks outside of the northwest, along with the skeletons in his closet.. Christie is a non-starter.
Now that we know Jeb and Mitt are meeting in private soon, I’m wondering if Mitt really isn’t going to run. The moneymen have to know that their best chance is to align behind one single establishment candidate, so that they can ram him through the primary process by sheer financial and paid-for organizational force.
He’s dead politically nationally..IMO
I’m thinking that Mitt will bow out to Jeb. Mitt lost a national election, so he is basically tainted goods.
There’s a lot of that going round....... think Rick Santorum
Maybe in New Jersey...he might still be able to draw a majority of Republican votes....but nationally....he’s finished off. He might make a half-way decent ambassador to Russia or maybe US ambassador to the UN....but that’s about all he is capable of doing.
C’mon Crispy Creme..jump into the race. We need more RINO scum...
“Is Chris Christie politically dead?”
Nationally, yes. Maybe he can hold on to his spot in NJ though.
If they do that, I’ll be glad. Jeb has no possible path to victory, unless Conservatives just eat each other and hand it to him. I can’t imagine there is more than 10% of the country that would even consider “another Bush” for more than a few seconds before snapping out of it.
I can't disagree with him. Whatever slim chance Christie had at the nomination is long since over. But the candidate is always the last to realize it.
That’s what I’m thinking too. Mitt has had his moment in the sun, enjoyed a few bonus news cycles in the past few months, and now he can threaten to complicate Jeb’s path in the primaries. Since Mitt still has some clout, he could use that position to be promised a cabinet post (of some sort of other plum position).
Jeb would then be the lone establishment candidate, while all of the more conservative candidates divvy-up the conservative votes.
It makes me nauseated to think of it, but you could see this coming from a mile away.
