I had lots of fun with straight pipes in the 70s.

Although not a speedster some of the best fun was a Datsun 510 wagon. I could turn the ignition off with the engine in gear, fill the exhaust system with fumes, and restart with a boom and a mighty fine flare.

Speakers worth more than whole car but that’s another story. Underdash cassette decks ROCKED!!

Cool story, did you ever blow the muffler right off? I know that happens occasionally.

Aw man! What memories! Nothing like Old School under dash stereo. I helped my best friend outfit his Datsun B210 with an FM Converter and an 8 Track player. 6x9s in the back deck and 4" rounds in the two front doors. That was one sweet ride for 1978. Chicks digged it and that was ALL that mattered.

Blew my muffler off doing that! Sometims I could get a “double bang” if both banks fired.
