If this is an accurate report (they really did discover an early Gos. of Mark) then Superduper!
two caveats:
1. a serious caution: we’re always very suspicious when people ‘had to sign confidentiality oaths’ — this makes it sound like some sort of profiteering scam rather than genuine academic research
and
2. and a somewhat less serious aside: if it contains an original copy of Morton Smith’s Secret Gospel of Mark, all Hell will break loose....
Doubt that it ever will. Those two fragments, whether forgeries or not, do not agree with Scripture in toto. Namely, the fragments promote the notion of homosexuality being practiced and contrary to Scripture.
The timing of these fragments in the 1970s fits right in with the communist manifesto’s points.
I’ll hold any amazement until it’s peer reviewed.
The Secret Gospel. The only copy was found a few decades ago in a Monastery library, written on the fly leaf of a book published in the 1600s. The writing was in a 1700s style penmanship, but in 2nd century Greek.
The book has since disappeared.
