Rally your base. Don’t alienate it.

"When you have to kill a man, it costs nothing to be polite." - Winston Churchill

Cruz is doing this right, Norm. It has nothing to do with his conservatism, which is quite far beyond anyone else's in the potential field.

Actually it costs a lot to be polite when one continues the meme that these are honorable men. As I said above, If you can prove that misleading America on this issue is a good, right thing to do, please explain how.

I like Cruz. I would vote for Cruz over anyone now in serious consideration. By miles. In fact, barring a Palin run, he would be the only one I’d even consider.

But it is flat out WRONG to prop up these people for any reason. They are not honorable men. They PROVED that. They are not decent men. They PROVED that. They are dangerous liars and it does not help Cruz or America to be ‘polite’ when truth is the first casualty and America the second.

I have a lot of support for TC. And respect. And BECAUSE OF THAT, I refuse to NOT call him on something when he should be.

Drooling sycophancy is not a conservative value. Nor is trying to have ones cake and eat it too.

He and his family just moved to Texas, ...

Where in Texas did Allen West move to?

I agree that he should not be picked to run as VP.

I believe he would serve much better as SecDef under a conservative POTUS and stop all of the liberal BS that this admin. has forced onto our military. ....The budget cuts and other unwise decisions regarding the DoD in the past few years have left the US in a bad position to protect the US.

Somewhere in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. He just became CEO of some company - and I can’t remember the name of it.

No, you don't.

“Ted Cruz urged arch conservatives”

Groan! The Associalistic Press strikes again! With an off the charts, left wing extremist squatting in the White House for the past 6 years, I am yet to see any article which the AP called Obama the far left extremist that he is.

In the media a liberal is a moderate, and a Conservative is extreme.

I’m with you. But what I’m saying is that Cruz taking the high road with people who won’t take the high road with him doesn’t alienate me. YMMV though. Keep fighting the good fight.

I guess my grandparents and their peers were arch-conservatives, too.

They worked hard, were careful with their money, took no welfare, went to church regularly, held themselves accountable and expected accountability in others, did not tolerate misbehavior or disrespect, were courteous to others, and loved America.

Many people, unfortunately, were moved by an early Obama speech.

A Stalinist is a liberal and a Marxist is a moderate. Anything to the right, yeah...

"archconservatives"

Hmmm...bias, maybe not...just to test the hypothesis...is there a such thing as an "archliberal?" Probably not...

Methinks archliberal is a socialist/Marxist/progressive communist, right?

Bias? No, there's no bias...(cough).

Cruz needs to stand aside, it’s Jeb’s turn to play candidate in 2016. /sarc

Then by all means, explain my longtime support and hundreds of posts defending him from the Freeper left, long before there was a Ted Cruz ping list.

No one is above making a mistake. This was a mistake. If we are going to stick our heads in the sand about it, then we may as well be posting at DU with the professionals.

Better to remain silent and be thought an idiot than speak and remove all doubt. That sentence wasn’t directed at Cruz BTW.

It doesn’t alienate me in and of itself. But if it repeats, we have a problem. If we can’t admit it, we have a bigger one. Taking the high road to hell gets you there just as fast as the low one.
