TITLES AND POWER
Now I see why powerful people often wear sunglasses--the spotlight blinds them to reality. They suffer from a delusion that power means something. They suffer from the misconception that titles make a difference. They are under the impression that earthly authority will make a heavenly difference. Can I prove my point? Take this quiz: * Name the last ten Heisman trophy winners. * Name the last ten winners of the Miss America contest. * Name eight people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize. * How about the last ten Academy Award winners for best picture... * or the last decade's worth of World Series winners. How did you do? I didn't do well either. With the exception of you trivia hounds, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday too well. Surprising how quickly we forget, isn't it? And what I've mentioned above are no second-rate achievements. These are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners. Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one: * Think of three people you enjoy spending time with. * Name ten people who have taught you something worthwhile. * Name five friends who have helped you in a difficult time. * List a few teachers who have aided your journey through school. * Name half a dozen heroes whose stories have inspired you. Easier? It was for me, too. The lesson...the people who make a difference are not the ones with the credentials, but the ones with the concern. Chaplain Joe Estabrook

Interesting. I could only name a few on any of these lists.
On the other hand, if I had earned the title of “Field Marshall” I would probably use it. “Field Marshall Yarddog” does have a certain air to it.
Seriously, I probably would use Dr. if I had a phd. I was born and raised near a small town in Florida. DeFuniak Springs was named after an Austrian Count. It is said he never used his title.

Thank you very much, Kathy! We are mostly, but quite entirely, past the illness.
Mrs. MacNessa and I had a great time last night - we met AbnSarge and Mrs. Sarge for dinner at a local restaurant. Good food and drink, but much more importantly, a chance to meet and have a good conversation with a great FReeper, a great Hibernian, and a great Patriot. Mrs. Sarge is equally impressive, and a charming lady. We had a truly wonderful time comparing notes and trading stories - we have many experiences in common.
We look forward to a reprise in the near future.

Good evening, Ms Feather...*hugs*...more above freezing daytime temps here, and icing at night.
“They” say cold is coming. “They” have said that before.
Stay warm. And a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.

Dear God: I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman, Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, National Guardsman, or Merchant Marine feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord; For with the Lord there is loving kindness, And with Him is abundant redemption. And He will redeem Israel From all his iniquities.

A Blessed day to you too, Kathy. :)
They have promised snow tonight, but so far just wind and cold rain.
However the winter is still young, no counting chickens yet.
Your winter headed east by the look of things.
I`m guessing that a mild winter causes the same insect problem in your state that it does here..?
G`Night. :)
