Mall owners generally spend little on security, so no, you aren’t going to see, say, a former Marine.

The mall closest to me has a police substation, but thanks to budgetary constraints, there is seldom a police presence.

Malls are in a state of decline. If the owners don’t wise up and spend some revenue on enhanced security, shoppers will stay away in droves. You will see more and more empty malls.
