Please tell me you are kidding. Why should a family not be able to grow whatever plant it wants on its own property? This is a property case.

What business is it of yours if this sick man wants to treat himself with marijuana? I suppose during Prohibition you would have been cheering the police busting beer shipments.

“...federal prosecutors say the presence of firearms shows the defendants were involved in drug trafficking...”

Natch.

Seventy plants for personal use? They really need to come up with a better story than that.

Sorry that the guy has metastatic pancreatic cancer - Sounds like he won’t have long term problems with the feds - if they are telling the truth about this.

This is a federal case so I assume the DoJ is involved. Where does Eric Holder stand on this?

Since the CDC appears to have gone on record saying tobacco “Smoking can cause cancer almost anywhere in your body, including the:

•Mouth, nose, and throat
•Larynx
•Trachea
•Esophagus
•Lungs
•Stomach
•Pancreas
•Liver
•Kidneys and ureters
•Bladder
•Colon and rectum
•Cervix
•Bone marrow and blood (leukemia)

What do we now about this gentleman’s history let along long term effects of taking Marijuana, medical or recreational?

Just expressing an opinion!

I thought the plan was to legalize “it” and then “tax the hell out of it”. How the hell can you “tax the hell out of it” if people are growing their own? He isn’t going to jail for growing happy smoke, he’s going to jail because he wasn’t paying taxes on it.

It's competition for his Sinola cartel buddies!

He's busted more MMJ shops than W by far!

What kind of monster denies the sick, suffering, or dying their choice of treatment or drugs?

This is why we cannot slow the growth of government and loss of rights. There are plenty of people on the conservative and progressive sides demanding more government to crack down on people doing something they don't like.

Anti gunners place the blame for crime on a gun, not the person wielding it. Drug warriors place the blame for crime on a plant, not the person doing the crime.

Marijuana has more carcinogens in it than tobacco.

Courts are often so cynical right now that if a convict has a serious or expensive medical condition they are likely to turn them loose, even if they are very guilty, confess, and were facing years behind bars.

Federal drug laws are unconstitutional!

That’s why prohibition required an amendment to the constitution.

The feds started the prohibition of marihuana by requiring tax stamps to possess it. Then they refused to sell the stamps. They did this to get around the fact that it was not a federal power to make any drug illegal. Then it all unlawfully morphed into the mess we have now.

“To make matters worse, the DOJ has prevented Larry for more than two years from using marijuana, a medicine that works effectively to treat his cancer and numerous other serious health conditions, while he awaits trial.”

He might argue that denial of hemp oil by the Feds exacerbated his cancer, causing it to metastasize, leading to a premature death, aka, murder. That would be an interesting civil trial where the preponderance of evidence should fall to the family collective because the Feds haven’t allowed any studies to bolster their claim of non-efficacy.

It is a plant and the govt has no business telling anyone what they can or cannot put in their own bodies.

If he dies of cancer because they took his medicine his widow should sue federal govt.
