Translated from Russian:
The magazine apparently organized a photo shoot on the shores of the White Sea for the Mercedes-Benz GL450, a full-size sports utility vehicle, and didnt realize it had captured the stealthy submarine cruising on the surface of the water in the background.
The vessel, nicknamed, Losharik after a childrens movie, is part of the Russian navys Northern Fleet. The magazine image of Losharika may be the highest-quality open source photo of the boat to date.
Filmed nuclear submarine was deep station AC-12 project 10831. The boat is the last of deep-built nuclear power stations, is part of the 29th Brigade of submarines of the Northern Fleet, based in Gadzhiyevo. Published in the "Top Gear" snapshot "Losharika" is probably one of the most clear and high-quality photos of this boat in open sources.

This sub is thought to be the source of the incursion into Swedish territorial waters last October:

We've been trying to get a look at this sub since 2003.
Whoa Nelly! Those dratted Russkis have no secrets from us now! Appears to be some sort of submersible vessel. Imagine that.
What if it’s just cardboard and a sneaky Russian trick?! Don’t fall for it!
Hey, I was burned by that fake Loch Ness monster photo from the 30's. You ain't gonna fool this boy twiced!
Emergency, everybody to get from street.
American Intel Code Name: LANDSHARK. (sorry....slinks off.)
Complete RUBBISH!!
It looks very stereotypically submarine-shaped. Can someone explain to someone who doesn’t know much about submarines what would be learned from that picture that we couldn’t have probably thought up if we were thinking of what a submarine might look like?
Well, for one thing there’s a giant red arrow that mysteriously hovers above it.
“This end towards other guy. Insert sailors here. Google nav pin sits here. Good luck!”
Length, displacement, screw configuration, e-lint antennas can give away some of those capabilities, sometimes what’s not there speaks louder than what is...
Undersea Boat.
/snark
I have a theory about submarines. The are small at one end, get bigger in the middle, and then get small again at the other end.
Sincerely,
Anne Elk
