NY Times: In Police Rift, Mayor de Blasio’s Missteps Included Thinking It Would Pass
New York Times ^ | January 11, 2014 | Michael M. Grynbaum, J. David Goodman and Al Baker

Not long after Mayor Bill de Blasio sat beside the Rev. Al Sharpton at a July summit meeting on police reform, a political adviser gave the mayor a blunt assessment: You have a problem with the cops.

Rank-and-file officers felt disrespected by the mayor, the adviser explained, and were dismayed to see Mr. Sharpton, a longtime critic of the New York Police Department, embraced at City Hall.

But Mr. de Blasio, a Democrat, rejected the notion that officers disliked him. His message, the adviser later recalled, was clear: Everything was under control.

That confidence would last until late last month, when the murders of two officers in Brooklyn prompted the department to adopt a stance of rebellion. Uniformed officers protested against the mayor in public, and low-level arrests virtually stopped. Mr. de Blasio, a liberal who had staked his mayoralty on re-educating the police force, is struggling to secure its basic trust.

In recent days, Mr. de Blasio has sounded downcast, according to aides who have spoken with him. The manager of his mayoral campaign has returned to help. And his team is considering focus groups and a poll to refine the mayor’s message to New Yorkers who may have soured on him.

de Blasio invited, and sat beside, Al Sharpton at a July summit meeting on
police reform---later a political adviser gave the mayor a blunt assessment:
"You have a problem with cops."

Actually De Blobbio has two major problems:

(1) WHAT HE HIMSELF HAS DESCRIBED AS HIS "NUMBER ONE ADVISOR"

Insider buzz is that Big Bird Blobbio is ruled by his wife---that the two work hand in hand to make public policy decisions.

So much so, that news reports say Commissioner Bratton was forced to caution DeBlobbio not to bring his wife to the crucial meeting recently held w/ five cop union reps.

DE BLOBBIO'S WIFE

RESUME ENHANCEMENT PROGRESSIVE-STYLE During DeBlobbio's campaign, his wife Chirlane I. McCray was billed as a writer, poet, editor, communications professional, and political figure who published poetry and worked in politics for the Clintons.

THE REAL STORY

Mrs DeBlobbio loudly declared her lesbianism in a magazine article---she was in a black feminist lesbian group and wrote poetry about being a lesbian. Politicker noted her husband's campaign website doesn't reference her background as an avowed lesbian and a lesbian activist or lesbian poet: It notes her affiliation with the Combahee River Collective, omitting mention of the group’s lesbian roots, referencing it as "a pioneering black feminist collective."

They met while both worked for Dinkins. She says she had a nose ring and wore African garb when he spotted her and was completely smitten. She never told him she was a lesbian. And later said after their marriage she was still attracted to women.

During the campaign, she was asked about her lesbian lifestyle----she retorted she "didn't understand the question."

The Blobbio's honeymooned in Communist Cuba. Musta been a shock on their wedding night when Blobbio came out of the shower in a towel. "You want to put what where," said the startled lesbian.

THE ODD COUPLES

(2) THE BLOB AND THE BOOB "Al, tell me what I should do about cops."

Wilhelm's problem is that he's a cracker. Whites don't view life through a racial prism. If you're a POS, you're a POS and color doesn't matter. To the minorities on the force, he's a cracker and they don't feel any particular allegiance to him. So it's no wonder that the NYPD as a whole doesn't like Wilhelm. If the mayor was black, then it would be a whole different story.

Blabbio's knee-deep in bird doo---and the "Progressive genius" still hasn't figured how to get out of it----except by bashing cops.

ITEM---Bratton and DeBlasio held a joint presser that had Big Bird patting himself on the back for 20 whole minutes.....he and Bratton took all the credit for the "lower crime rate".....-no doubt Bratton relied on the scam he used when he Commissioned under Giuliani: manipulate the stats--refigure the way crimes are reported....eliminate some crimes from the statistics.

ITEM---In announcing the presser, Big Bird clearly lied about its purpose.....the whole point was to assemble the press corps as a messenger service.....as ego-driven Big Bird whined about cops turning their backs on him.

ITEM---It was astounding to see Bratton at the presser----practically prostrate, all puckered up, sucking up to Blabbio--- vitrolically bashing cops.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST TAXPAYERS? Bratton was clearly coached to attack cops---as the way to massage Birdman's bruised ego.

HOW TO GET THE PROGRESSIVE COP-HATER VOTE WITHOUT EVEN TRYING.

De Blobbio worked on Hillary's Senate campaign.

Impeached president and disbarred lawyer, Bill Clinton,
swears in the new Mayor. Hillary looks on.

The Clintons milk the Progressive cop-hater vote.

Typical Leftist media scum ALERT.

Kentucky Newspaper Fires Staffers Over 'Prank' About Cops Shooting Minorities

By Brendan James January 9, 2015

A Kentucky newspaper fired two staffers on Thursday for adding a sentence into Thursday's edition that said local police officers get into the profession "because they have a desire to shoot minorities."

"No reasonable excuse exists for the horrible mistake that occurred Thursday in The News-Enterprise," editor Ben Sheroan wrote in an editorial for the Elizabethtown paper, which also ran a retraction of the original article.

"As a result, the two people involved were fired," he wrote.

Reporting on a statement by Hardin County Sheriff John Ward, the article was supposed to paraphrase him saying that people join law enforcement “because they have a desire to serve the community.”

DeBlasio is so deeply steeped in his intent to lead "The Revolution" that he is incapable of understanding any of the civil responsibilities that a Mayor must possess to govern effectively. His defiance in owning up to any mistake underscores this point.

If he ever does decide to take on mayoral responsibilities it'll be the left who will turn on him for betraying 'the revolution' ... he's between a rock and a hard place of his own making.

Change the talk but not the walk. This is what's wrong with today's politicians.

I’m not too worried about the NYPD in the event of an attack. They seem to have their act together, and the uneventful Times Square New Years Eve showed that they are still doing their jobs for the big stuff.

What this “slowdown” shows is that the cops know the policing-related revenue stream is the easiest, and most effective, thing to hit. They aren’t shirking on major crime (although Broken Windows says that there’ll be an indirect uptick in that), but rather not doing the kind of policing that they’ve been villified for doing. And are now being villified for not doing it.
