World leaders join mass Paris march to honor attack victims

PARIS (Reuters) - Dozens of world leaders including Muslim and Jewish statesmen linked arms leading hundreds of thousands of French citizens in an unprecedented march under high security to pay tribute to victims of Islamist militant attacks.

President Francois Hollande and leaders from Germany, Italy, Israel, Turkey, Britain and the Palestinian territories among others, moved off from the central Place de la Republique ahead of a sea of French and other flags. Giant letters attached to a statue in the square spelt out the word Pourquoi?" (Why?) and small groups sang the "La Marseillaise" national anthem.

Some 2,200 police and soldiers patrolled Paris streets to protect marchers from would-be attackers, with police snipers on rooftops and plain-clothes detectives mingling with the crowd. City sewers were searched ahead of the vigil and underground train stations around the march route are due to be closed down.

The silent march - which may prove the largest seen in modern times through Paris - reflected shock over the worst militant Islamist assault on a European city in nine years. For France, it raised questions of free speech, religion and security, and beyond French frontiers it exposed the vulnerability of states to urban attacks.

One wonders where Al Sharpton is. You would expect him to be in the middle of this French crowd demanding that the police who killed the terrorists be brought to justice and indicted for racism. It is surprising that Jesse Jackson and Obama are not lecturing Europeans that police are hunting minorities for fun and frivolity. Oh! But wait! Obama I believe through his press secretary or someone like that has said that the victims brought this on themselves by speaking out. They should have shut up.

Does that mean that Eric Garner then brought his death on himself? He too should have shut up.

Then of course there is Micahel Brown. He should have shut up as well otherwise he would still be alive.

There is no moral equivalence between what Garner and Brown did and what Hebdo did. Brown and Garner antagonized police and suffered the consequences.

Hebdo stood up to terrorist thugs and unfortunately suffered the consequences too. Hebdo was known to have said something like I would rather die freely expressing myself rather than live in oppressed silence.

What is great about the response in France to this terror attack is that it is abundantly obvious President Hollande gave the very clear directive that these terrorists should be apprehended by any means necessary and we all know what that meant. What a difference of support for French police compared to the support recently to New York police! If idiots like Sharpton went to France to lecture the French on police brutality he would be tarred and feathered and justly so. The French have something to teach us here about supporting the police and standing up for what is right.

Meanwhile Sharpton is hiding under his mattress too cowardly to even condemn what happened in France. His silence is deafening. What a vile man he is.

The world will really see Obama as the scumbag that he is. His world summit will probably have some very offensive gaffes on O’s part which will p!ss off Europeans. One already germinating gaffe is that the victims in France brought this on themselves and should have shut up. Europeans will discover that he is the fraud we have all grown to know. He is a man that leads from behind and gets thousands killed along the way.

Perfect! That is so much like Obama. Leading from behind. Hiding under his mattress. Looking for an angle to really make people mad. He is probably hanging out with his race hustlers trying to figure out how he could get in the middle of all this and pit Muslims against the rest of the world.

The longer the war is delayed, the worse it is going to be.

Unfortunately, war is the only resolution to this mess.

I read the complete article and saw nobodies name from the US representing us.

Should not the Secretary of State be there representing us? Isn’t either this his job or maybe the VP’s job?

I have read other headlines and do not see where a black “superstar” overdosed or killed themselves so they should have been free to be there.

Frankly, I'm somewhat ambivalent about the attack on Charlie Hebdo. Muslim terrorists are the scum of the earth, but so are the editors at this filthy, sickening rag. It's sort of like watching Nazis fight Communists. You hope they both lose.

My belief is that the time will come when attacks on those who hate truth will be seen as heroic. Those attacks will be on traitorous politicians, freedom-hating journalists, Marxist college professors, race-baiters, etc. A revolution is coming.

I was having trouble with this idea that we are at war now with these terrorists. I view a war as like the Second World War.

Then in light of this terrorist attack in France I have learned that France has what they call No Go Zones. They have over 700 No Go Zones throughout France. These zones are zones that are 100% under Sharia control where there is no government or police authority. I thought that these zones are perfect enclaves where terrorists can plot their next attacks against the rest of the country with no fear of retribution. In other words these no go zones are countries within a country and in light of this I can understand that we are now at war.

It is my understanding that in the US Dearborn Michigan is 100% Muslim. As a matter of fact many government documents and in schools communications are printed in the languages of the Muslim community. We probably have No Go Zones here too

Isn't it interesting that Obama is upset by the killing of a handful of Caucasian French.

What about the hundreds? or thousands of Christian children being slaughtered by the Islamic Boko Haram? Is it possibly just because BLACK children don,t count with him???

Well five were shot near this "superstar" but like our president he has farmed out the pain, bleeding and dying to his lessers...Maybe It Counts?

Definitely! But if we are going to trash Jews and Catholics with wild abandon than Muslims have to man up and be able to argue the value of their religion without blowing everyone up. The thing is that for over a thousand years Jews, Muslims and Catholics have been beating the crap out of each other.

Interestingly, when the US became a country its first war was against Muslims as in the Barbary Coast pirates. This conflict goes back hundreds of years.

Did we have crowds of millions like in France in outrage? This is the largest gathering in the history of France! Spontaneous. Obama is salivating over this kind of attention that he is not getting. He can just muster a few hundred race baiters at any one time.

I think we all tend to think these big historical events have some huge defining moment but it's always, I think, a slide into them. Then, maybe a spark--that gets known as the "beginning" but the beginning was long before.
