According to the same story from AP that has been ruled out.

That happens in areas where you have a lot of water flowing through a lot of rock,” Day said.”

Possibly a correct “ruling”, but I always rule out complete acceptance of the veracity of government employees -— particularly government employees who also try to advance the canard of “global warming”.
