MIAMI (AP) Jeb Bush called himself a head-banging conservative back in 1994 when he ran for governor of Florida on a promise to club this government into submission.
He lost.
Four years later, the Republican returned as a compassionate voice for education reform and societys have-nots.
He won.
Its a lesson that still shapes Bushs approach to politics and was evident this past week when he took the latest step toward the 2016 presidential race.

Stay outta da bushes.
Good, just what we need....... a freeper quoting Jesse Jackson the race baiting left winger
CBS Miami wants JEB to run for president. The MSM wants to pick the GOP candidate, again.
Then he learned the wrong lesson. Jeb lost to Lawton Chiles in ‘94 by 64K votes out of 4.2M, which means the election was probably stolen with Miami-Dade box stuffing—but even if not, Chiles was a favorite son in FL at the time. In ‘98, Buddy MacKay had three strikes against him: he wasn’t Lawton Chiles, he was openly liberal, and he had ousted Willie Smith as the expected first black FL House Speaker, so all the blacks stayed home. Jeb in ‘98 could have run as the Devil and he would have won the election. Thinking that his pivot from conservative to moderate made the difference is foolishness.
Of course, CBS news has to keep his name in front of us all the time and blatantly avoids any other REAL candidates, he’s their favorite “throw away” candidate.
Jeb Bush, please go away!
JEB is a head banging conservative... yes conservatives bang their heads on walls when the drive by media calls JEB a conservative.
Jeb, you’ll never survive the primaries. Bone head.
No way, no how.
The real problem is that pols will say anything to get elected but generally will never be truthful about what they actually believe, if anything. So, is Jeb a head banging conservative? A moderate? A progressive? Hmmmm. I remember a news piece I think it was following 0s election where Jeb and Crist and some other guy were in a booth at a pizza parlor (I think) and Jeb was lecturing conservatives about how we were the problem and that the Pubbies needed to move left and dump conservative ideas. I think Jeb is not trustworthy and I will not support him.
Forget candidates (any of them) right now.
Nail down the ISSUES first, once that is done you can find your candidate—most likely he will be obvious.
You are correct, and seem to remember the election of 1998 better than 99% of the “journalists” in the state.
Heck, I bet 99% of the “journalists” in Florida either weren’t born and/or weren’t LIVING in the state of Florida in 1998.
