Nugent said his staff told him of the decision after the vote. He declined further comment, saying he wanted to speak with Boehner.

Boehner and his team are convinced that, despite 25 defections, they have a firmer grip on power than ever. They say their working majority members whom Boehner can work with is around 220 members.
We dont need these fringe guys as much as we did anymore, said a GOP leadership aide, speaking on condition of anonymity. We can let them walk on certain bills, and it just wont matter. That gives us breathing room.

Nugent said he has been frustrated that a measure to take on mental health in the criminal justice system and another dealing with veterans have been held up. He also bemoaned the power of some staff over members, he said.

Some lawmakers want heads to roll at the staff level. Rep. Andy Harris was incensed, addressing the leadership team in the private conference meeting to tell them it was unacceptable for an anonymous GOP leadership aide to call sitting members of Congress “fringe guys” because they voted against Boehner. Harris’s comment drew thanks from a number of his colleagues.
Do you think Nancy is controlling Boehner with a little something on the side , Barf
We’ll see. At this point no one has any confidence whatsoever in the GOP or in the ability of truly conservative representatives to have any influence. The only thing we have left is an Article V convention to pass amendments to radically restrict the damage the federal government can do to the country.
There is actually plenty they can do. If the only thing they did was to object to every single unanimous consent vote, it would really throw a monkey wrench into the process.
If the GOP congressmen can’t stand up to the thugs in their own party how can we ever expect them to stand up for the American people against the Democrats?
Thanks for those links. Excellent research.
I have been saying this since the election, and the anointing of Boehner and Mitch, in fact it may be the only way these guys can be undone.
Well, “if the shoe fits wear it as my momma use to say”.
Re “fringe guys”.
220 odd representative lied to get in office and are fully intending to support Mr. Liberal Boehner at his “beck and call” in order that he hopefully will throw them a piece of red meat!
So, “you real conservatives and truth tellers just sit down and shut up and take your medicine”. That’s the message!
Pleassssseeeeeeeee!
No breakfast yet!
Not their own party, but certainly they should form a group. They should unite as a new conservative caucus over which they control membership. Their strength would be bolstered as they unify as a block of votes which they can use to “punish” unpopular leadership decisions. And they should add more strident conservatives to their numbers.
