Real estate magnate and potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will test the waters in the nation’s first-in-the-south primary state, South Carolina, this month. He will deliver a keynote address to the South Carolina Tea Party convention in Myrtle Beach.
“I look forward to being with my friends in South Carolina,” Trump said in a statement provided to Breitbart News. “I have always had great admiration for the people and state of South Carolina. It will be a wonderful afternoon.”
Joe Dugan, the head of the Myrtle Beach Tea Party and organizer of the annual conference, praised Trump—a solid opponent of amnesty—for making the trip down.
“Our mission is providing South Carolinians an opportunity to hear directly from experts, elected officials and national voices,” Dugan said. “We’re looking forward to a great event this year and are please to have Mr. Trump join our stellar lineup as they address the critical issues facing our state and the nation.”
The conference runs from Saturday January 17 through Monday January 19. Trump’s speech is set for Monday afternoon.

The Republican Party is burdened with too many ambitious conservative but mediocre candidates who all deem themselves the next President. As in1996, 2000, 2008 and 2012 a “moderate” with fancy campaign slogans will win the primaries. Say hello to Jeb Bush, a turned off electorate and the horror of Democrats controlling the Presidency. There simply are no more Ronald Reagans.
Then we should stop looking for one.
I have a hard time taking seriously anyone who dyes his hair with Tang.
Trump does not impress me as a politician. He’s had fair success in business. IMHO, he needs to stay OUT of the 2016 primaries. He should pick a candidate that has a chance of winning and promote that person.
Same thing Huckabee and some others should do.
If Reagan were reincarnated as a candidate today, at least a third of FR would be calling him a RINO.

Donald Trump....a modern day PT Barnum. I love The Apprentice. It's a character study about how low people will stoop to try to put some life in their over-the-hill careers. I could see the Trump style on that show being useful in the WH.
The US probably cannot be saved anyway. We really tried this last election. If we're goin' down anyway, Trump in the WH would lend some comic relief.
Combover boy's "business" is basically:
(1) Cook up a new development using his name. (2) Sell shares to the gullible with money who still think the Trump name is worth something. (3) Cash in and exit stage left before the bottom falls out.

Why is the Tea Party listening to Trump? Didn’t he endorse Romney last time? I recall the media made a big deal about who Trump thought was the person to be the Republican nominee...and then it was Romney.

Precisely. The guy was a former Democrat, after all. A union leader, Hollywood Liberal.
The guy has good economic ideas, is willing to speak his mind, is a successful businessman who is willing to take some risks, and I don’t doubt his patriotism.
Better him than Jeb. Or Krispy Kreme. Or Mutt.
At this point given the fact Jeb is in and Romney is thinking about it, I could easily cast a vote for Trump.
If you listen to him talk either on the Apprentice or in Interviews, the guy appears to have common sense and also doesn’t shy away from saying politically correct things. I think if elected he’d actually make some hard, but correct decisions.
At the same time, he’s got enough personality that maybe some Dems and moderates might vote for him.
Yeah, I understand he’s a promoter. But I’m going Trump well before one of the GOPe guys in the race.
That’s part of what makes Trump, Trump.
Certainly don’t want him as POTUS but welcome him to the race.
It's one thing to say "Republican candidate X is too liberal for me and I don't think I can vote for him" - all of us have been there now and then.
It's quite another to say "ONLY candidate Y meets all the tests of agreement with ME. If he is not on the ballot, I'm staying home!!!"
