Went to 4F last night, now up to a balmy 9F. I turned down my thermostat to 65 when I went to bed. Will put it up to 68 during the day.

20 degrees here in Albuquerque, so I bundled up and rode the cycle. Only 10 miles, so it wasn’t too bad.

A solid -20 here in So.VT up to -15 at 9:00am. Using up my wood pile pretty fast.

I remember being stuck in "Day's Gap" (between Cullman and Decatur/Hartselle) late that night on old Highway 31 (now it's I-65) behind a big 18-wheeler who started slipping backward and scaring the living crap out of me...we finally made it to the top of the hill.

I spent the rest of that night at the truck-stop at the top of that hill. (with access to electricity, gas, food and COFFEE!) All the way up that incline I kept worrying about the truck sliding back on me (in my Corvair) and sliding into the gap.

It was -1 when I got into work in Boston at 8. It’s now shot up to 9. Thinking pina coladas.

It is amazing how your definition of "cold" changes during a hard winter.

Below 50 used to be "cold" now with the temperature at 1 degree 10 sounds positively balmy!
