TLC pressured to cancel ‘My Husband’s Not Gay’
Fox News via Variety ^ | JANUARY 06 2015 | Variety Staff

TLC is facing growing criticism over the decision to air “My Husband’s Not Gay,” a one-hour special slated to air on Jan. 11, which follows a group of Mormon men who, according to the network’s description, “are happily married and attracted to their wives, but they are also attracted to other men. They refer to it as Same Sex Attraction… not gay, SSA.”

The following are comments I made specifically addressing the petition written by Josh Sanders, although I find both his and GLAAD's use of the word "dangerous" in describing this special to be irresponsible and reprehensible.

Here we have some guy named Josh Sanders not wanting TLC to run a special on former homosexuals who are now married Mormons. He actually refers to it in a petition as "false and dangerous."

Could you possibly get more Orwellian than that? The level of doublespeak there is mind-blowing.

First and foremost, Sanders refers to Mormons as Christians. They are not.

Second, not only is homosexuality referred to as a sin, and that you must confess and repent from your sin, it is also suggested Christians actually refrain from future sin. It's all there in the book of Romans, folks. Which is why it is impossible for homosexuals to be Christians.

Third, it is quite simply an insult to hundreds of former homosexuals to say they cannot change and the therapy doesn't work. They will tell you the exact opposite.

Fourth, why in the world would one not want someone to move away from something that is making them miserable? See, if someone wants to stop being a homosexual, simply let them be. It's their life. It's not about you. It's not about the agenda. LET THEM BE.

What could possibly be more false and dangerous than telling someone being a homosexual is okay, even when they are miserable, even as the behavior that comes with it courts diseases that can literally kill you?

To put it quite simply, the petition composed by Sanders is from stem to stern, top to bottom, beginning to end, based on lies.

Which is why it should not stand. Period.

I always wonder where they find these people that are so willing to sell their souls to be on TV for a few bucks. These types of reality shows typically do NOT pay much and they share your guts and everything wrong in your life with everyone. Crazy.

I think they should change the name to something like The Lunatic Channel or the Whore Yourself Out for a Buck channel.

Are there really enough people who’d watch this and make it economically viable?

They used to show actual science and nature type stuff but I haven’t watched it in years. Its kind of like the conversion from the History channel into the Ancient Aliens channel.

The good show do exist but they go to the new channels that require ever expanding cable packages and growing bills.

Instead of TLC and the Discovery channel I watch the Science channel. Instead of the History Channel I watch American Heroes Channel.

I agree.

I’m more libertarian about the gay issue. I’m not so worried about the degradation of American culture and religiosity on this issue because if it’s shaken to the foundation by a bunch of gays, then it probably was never strong in the first place!

I wrote a screenplay called “My Wife’s Not a Nag” but it got rejected for being “too far out there.”

My attitude about the gay marriage thing is that we should get government out of marriage.

The “Learning” Channel is a waste of space.

That is not the only channel which violates the truth disclosure laws.

National Geographic, weird programming with a dearth of geography.
The Science channel, with a three stooges huckster promoting aliens... can't remember the last opportunity actually to see "science" there.
The Syfi channel, with thousands of classic Science Fiction stories and novels showing... fake wrestling and the other weird 'anything goes' human 'cockfighting.'

That's only the short list.
