First anti-abortion bill filed: Doctors must have hospital privileges (Florida)
Palm Beach Post ^ | January 6, 2015 | Christine Stapleton

Doctors who perform abortions would be required to have privileges at a hospital within 30 miles of the location where the abortion is performed under the first anti-abortion billed filed in the 2015 legislative session.

HB 147 is sponsored by two Republicans, Pensacola Rep. Walter Bryan “Mike” Hill, former president of the Northwest Florida Tea Party, and Rep. Scott Plakon of Longwood, who pushed a bill in 2012 that would have required doctors to sign an affidavit stating the abortion is not being performed because of the sex or race of the fetus.

The bill is patterned after laws in Louisiana and Oklahoma, which also require abortion providers to have privileges at hospitals within 30 miles of the clinic where the abortion is performed. The initiatives are called TRAP laws – Targeted Regulation of Abortion Providers – and have successfully closed clinics in Texas.

Fourteen other states have enacted laws that require abortion providers to have some affiliation with local hospitals. The laws have sparked lawsuits across the country, with courts falling on both sides of the issue.

In November, the 5th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals refused to reconsider a ruling blocking Mississippi from enforcing its admitting-privilege TRAP law. In July, the court ruled 2-1 that the law is unconstitutional because it would close Mississippi’s only abortion clinic.

Most women having abortions are young and stupid. (ages 13 to 29, ) They don’t think of these things. They have never really gone to a doctor long term, maybe once a year. have not a clue of the importance. Not like PP is going to tell them either. They just want the money.

Can’t tell you, don’t live there.

But you know I have a feeling we will see more of these lawsuits. Hospitals are tired of being abortion mill’s dumping ground.

In July, the court ruled 2-1 that the law is unconstitutional because it would close Mississippi’s only abortion clinic.

That doesn't make any sense. That's like saying that a gun shop could evade background check laws because the "only" gun store would be closed.

If restaurants couldn't afford to comply with health regulations, should they too be exempted?

How about industrial firms that have to comply with pollution standards?

Where is this sacred protection of abortionists in the Constitution?

Oh, I wouldn’t worry. See, the will of the people in Florida means diddly squat.

Pro-infanticide shills will cherry pick a single judge once this bill is made into law. That single judge will re-write the statutes, and tell the elected officials of Florida to ignore the law.

Earlier this week, a black robed thug named Robert Hinkle decided he knew better than Yahweh, Jesus Christ, Saint Paul, and 4,000-6,000 years of civilized society when he ruled that homosexuality must be endorsed.

Just happened this week in Florida, and it’ll happen again.

Until someone says stop.

If they find a homosexual gene, will that be added to the list?

All excellent points.

And I would not have anything done by a doctor that did not have hospital privileges nearby. Common sense...unless you’re a leftie.
