Confirmed by Jamie Dupree

“Rep Jeff Duncan R-SC says he will not vote for Boehner for Speaker - that’s 15 Republicans now”

Perhaps many are playing it close to the vest and will hold off until the actual vote. I read that there were only 130 announced Yes votes for Boehner.

My fantasy: Vote proceeds ( I believe it’s alphabetical order) and near the front, an unannounced vote goes Gohmert. Effect is like the first bird that flies off the wire.

I have a dream!

Confirmed. On his Facebook page.

Note: Not that he will NOT support Boner (which leaves door open for a "present" vote), but will vote for someone else.

is coming out against Boehner shortly...

**************

Shortly the actual vote will begin. The House convenes at 12:00 noon and
the election of the Speaker is the first item up as I understand the process.

The election of a Speaker is always the first item to be considered in a New Congress and nothing else happens until that is done. At times in the past it has proceeded through many, many ballots before a candidate gained the absolute majority that is required.

The first order of business is Boehner crying as he calls for the Speaker vote.

Stupid Cheeto.

Dear Jeff Duncan,

When you see my Representative Gowdy, mention to him that he, Gowdy, of all GOP members of the House, is in the best position to bring about positive change in GOP leadership TODAY that he may ever have.

Boehner is not going to buck Gowdy at this stage and if he does, so what. Shut down House Select Benghazi hearings?

Jeff, you are doing the right thing, even if you are punished for it by your own Party. Thank you!

Tell Trey we are paying attention today.

Your neighbor down the road and across District lines,

R2z

Did you all see this??

Hours before vote, small GOP opposition to John Boehner grows (shenanigans to change the threshold)

Politico ^ | 1/6/15 9:47 AM EST | By Jake Sherman and John Bresnahan

Posted on ‎1‎/‎6‎/‎2015‎ ‎7‎:‎37‎:‎04‎ ‎AM by a fool in paradise

Boehner’s opposition grew Tuesday morning just a few hours before the vote...

...At least 12 House Democrats will be in Manhattan attending Mario Cuomo’s funeral Tuesday in Manhattan. Another “handful” of Democrats are already planning to skip the vote, and that number could grow much larger, according to Democratic insiders. But every Democrat who skips the speaker vote helps lower the threshold for Boehner to be reelected.

Air travel is already slowed as well. Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is holding aircraft at their destination until 10 a.m., and is experiencing delays of between 15 and 30 minutes for flights already in the air. GOP leadership has no plans to delay the vote, sources said...

Boehner has enough allies — upwards of 100 — who have privately vowed they will never vote for another candidate for speaker besides Boehner. That would make a so-called compromise candidate almost impossible to elect. Many of Boehner’s allies have said for months that they will keep voting for Boehner until the opposition subsides...

Stop me if I’m wrong, but this “29 votes to block” meme presumes that ALL Dems will vote for Pelosi, right?

Any Dem with a lick of sense (there may be a few) would vote for Boehner, not Pelosi. Crazy Nancy loses on a straight party-line vote, so her hopes are thin at best.

But wouldn’t the Dems want to KEEP Boehner? He knuckles under before the fight even starts, gives them everything they could ask for, and shows no signs of rocking the boat ... EVER!

The perfect Dem in disguise, in other words. Why would the Dems want Cryin’ John to lose the Speakership?

Yes, I saw that. That’s their backup trick in the book, to ensure that they stay in power.

They have a million tricks they can play, but we’ve been making them actually use them. We’re aware of them now, and their duplicity is out there for all to see.

They may hold on to power, but they’re being exposed!

It is not in the nature of politics that the best men should be elected. The best men do not want to govern their fellowmen: George MacDonald

and most of those supposedly serving we the people in DC are lawyers and those who aren't hire lawyers as advisers and common knowledge is that lawyers lie and they are greedy. It is puzzling why we the people allow them in our politics when we know they are only interested in taking what is on our pockets.

I agree with you! If 12 Dims are in NY and some Dims and Pubs may not get there in time due to air traffic in DC, the 218 Boehner needs goes down and the 29 conservatives need to stop him goes up . I did read that many would vote for Jim Jordan, but he hasn't tossed his hat in the ring. If the article was true and someone nominates him, it could get very interesting.

Aderholt’s office answered the phone and accepted the message, rather than send it to voice mail like Gowdy’s office. Emphasis was given to Aderholt’s opportunity to set an immediate example to the other Congressmen.
