Conservative Activists Fuel Anti-Boehner Rebellion With Letter Calling for His Removal as Speaker

Two dozen conservative activists, including prominent new media personalities Michelle Malkin and Dana Loesch, joined Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation and John Hawkins and Tiffany Ruegner of Right Wing News, in signing a letter calling on “Republicans in the House of Representatives to elect someone other than John Boehner as Speaker of the House of Representatives.”

Members of the newly elected House of Representatives will meet in Washington on Tuesday to select a new Speaker of the House.

“In the four years Boehner has been Speaker,” the letter reads, “he has been nothing short of a disaster.”

The signatories have little good to say about Boehner.

“He has insulted conservatives; he’s a poor strategist; his word means nothing; he’s reluctant to fight and he has lost the trust of Republicans across America,” the letter says.

“As bad as things have been over the last four years,” they write, “in the last month they became even worse.”

After the Republican victories in November, “John Boehner surrendered and gave the Democrats almost everything they wanted in the so-called ‘Cromnibus’ bill rather than passing a short-term continuing resolution that would have allowed Republicans to tackle the issues in 2015 after they are in the majority.”

The letter sets forth more than a half a dozen credible alternatives to Boehner.

“A number of names have been floated as possible replacements. These include Marsha Blackburn, Trey Gowdy, Jim Jordan, Raúl Labrador, Louie Gohmert, Jeb Hensarling and even Ted Yoho.”

“Any of them would be an improvement over John Boehner,” the signatories wrote.

My big fear is that they dump bohner and user in someone else who is a “Crouching Conservative, Hidden RINO”.

Kinda like how they replaced Cantor with that Andrew McCarty.

If they get to a second or third round I would imagine Jeb Hensarling would be the top contender. He’s not tea party but still a good sight better than Boehner. I’d love to see Gohmert get it but he’s likely too conservative for the mainstream reps. At this point anybody but Boehner.

NO ONE is calling for Boener’s “removal” as his term ends tomorrow. We are OPPOSING his re-election. There is a difference.

[ Gohmert is no hidden RINO. ]

I am not worried about Gohmert, I am worried the establishment will dump bohner and put someone else in there as speaker who is NOT Gohmert but is for the moement more “popular” that bohner.

Like if they put in someone who was a Tea Party Candidate turned RINO like Kelley Ayote and claimed it was a “compromise” after Bohner had been forced out.

Just called Rep. Labrador's office directly and said I wanted Raul to vote for Louie Gohmert. Asked about the call volume and he said they've been getting lots of calls.

Did the same with Rep. Tim Murphy. This is Rick Santorum’s old district, PA-18. Didn’t tell him who to vote for, just pointed out that Boehner had been ineffective for four years and his capitulation on Cromnibus showed we were in for more of the same.

How significant and interesting: Jenny Beth Martin of Tea Party Patriots did not sign. Maybe she wasn’t invited.
