If you get a DWI/DUI and are on probation you are already prohibited from drinking alcohol .

Never heard that before? Anyone now if that is common in many states?

It is for sure in Texas, also, no early release from probation for DWI.

OTOH, if on probation for robbery/assault, then early release is possible.

Probation is in lieu of a jail sentance.

Alcohol prohibition is standard boilerplate on probation and release on bail, regardless of the underlying charge.
