The NYPD’s Revolt Is A Direct Threat To Democracy

Since the moment when police officers turned their backs in protest on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, we’ve seen the type of escalating activity in the city which would be more recognizable as the preview to a messy Latin American coup d’etat. The latest is a form of purposeful sabotage on the part of the NYPD, which is now actively shirking its duty to enforce the law. According to the New York Post, traffic tickets and summonses have plummeted by 94 percent, and overall arrests are down 66 percent for the week compared to the same period last year. Here’s the data comparisons from this year to 2013:
Citations for traffic violations fell by 94 percent, from 10,069 to 587, during that time frame. Summonses for low-level offenses like public drinking and urination also plunged 94 percent from 4,831 to 300. Even parking violations are way down, dropping by 92 percent, from 14,699 to 1,241. Drug arrests by cops assigned to the NYPDs Organized Crime Control Bureau which are part of the overall number dropped by 84 percent, from 382 to 63.
Considering how much New York, as with many of our other major cities, has leaned toward over-policing, this isn’t all a bad thing – I’m not going to get worked up about cops handing out fewer parking violations. But as a whole, this represents a completely irresponsible rejection of the duty to enforce the law. Yesterday, speaking to a graduating class of more than 800 new officers at Madison Square Garden, de Blasio was booed and heckled as he struggled to extend an oratorical olive branch.

To the voters of NYC I say, “You fouled your nest, now sit in it.” Only by sitting in it for Comrade Bill’s full term will they learn what a horrible thing electing a communist is. Then they might hold their noses and elect another Giuliani.

“actively shirking its duty to enforce the law”
Wait a minute, I thought the President and Attorney General said “We don’t have to enforce Laws we don’t like”??

Maybe this city, like most cities, just needs to learn to operate on less revenue.

That’s crazy talk. Problem is - the city will revert to other tried and true income generators.
Like higher sales taxes and increased property taxes.
No matter HOW they collect their money, they WILL collect it.

Because he’s a sissy pansy, and he agrees with Al “what do we want, dead cops” Sharpton.
He’s a communist, and laws only apply to others, so inciting to violence -in his mind- is okay for him to do just so long as nobody pushes back at him.

The process is already well on it’s way, but in time it will become more of just another federal job, and quality of life, wages and benefits, (and safety) will take over as the military becomes more reluctant to deploy, to live harshly, and to fight.
In time we will have a 50% female military, and it will be very family and home oriented.

“Theyre just not doing the things that collect revenue for the city right now.”
Kathy “Tootsie” Whitmire tried a similar thing with the HPD in the early 80s. The police had asked for something administrative in nature and not about money. “Tootsie” refused so that the police stopped writing traffic tickets. Her “No” lasted three days then she suddenly changed her position and ok’ed the administrative request. ;-)

I disagree with the premise of this article. I think it is demonstrating democracy quite well..

They are only hurting city revenues by not issuing traffic and misdemeanors tickets. Maybe De Blasio will threaten to cut their wages if they don’t start bringing in the bucks. He needs the money for his socialist programs.

But as a whole, this represents a completely irresponsible rejection of the duty to enforce the law. Really? You mean like Soetoro's?
Maybe this will give the courts a chance to process the existing cases and get rid of the backlog.

Because traffic tickets bring in big money. Real crime doesn’t.

And his bank account. 99 cents out of every dollar the Democrats collect via taxes for “social programs” goes into the pocket of some Democrat bigwig.

The cops-as-revenuers thing gets even worse when you start to look at the abuses of the various seizure laws that allow cops to stop you on a highway, rob you of your cash, and then deny you the ability to appeal their actions. Yup. I don't have any problem with police in NY not acting as revenue generators for the city (any city) . I suspect though, that they are also similarly slacking off on more productive things as well.If not, then perhaps they'll have time to deal with crimes more important than someone selling loose cigarettes.

I don’t think anybody gains from this. Electing socialists ends the Rule of Law, and lawlessness is the result.

The cops gain, that is why they are doing this, to display their power and to strengthen their grip over city government.
They are letting current and future elected officials and more importantly, future candidates for the political parties, that while they come and go, there is an 800 pound gorilla that runs the city, unions.

This has deep roots in criminalizing behavior not because it is inherently wrong, like theft, or assault, but because society has decided it should be considered wrong. You want big government, you got it.

What the hell happened to the Federalist?
This guy is all over the place in this article.
I try to mind my language here, but all I can say is eff DeBlasio. He’s a commie. He installed Sharpton’s staff in City Hall and whatever bad happens to him he deserves ten times more.
I grew up in NYC, I watched (from afar) Giuliani bring it back from the absolute brink of the abyss, and now those ingrates have installed this commie pig in City Hall.
LET IT BURN.

You know, that’s the thing we have to stop. I read something (on hot air I think) about how the GOP-E incumbents all survived their primaries. But in so many cases there were multiple opponents. Well of course the one person with solid backing can win when the opposition is fractured.
Stupid Mr. Gristede’s should have given Lhota his money to run with.
They’re all paying the price now.

New York City will come to rue the day that they elected this Obamabot, Black Racist, Democrat, Bill De Blasio as their Mayor!!! De Blasio will destroy the city....businesses will leave, and tourists will not come!!! New York City will die...just as Detroit did!!!
However....I believe Mayor De Blasio will be forced to resign...as the uniformed public servants, (cops, firemen, sanitation workers, PA police, first responders, EMTs, AMTs, etc.) will turn against him after, De Blasio abetted, murdered & slaughtered, Officer Liu is laid to rest this coming Sunday. I suggest De Blasio resign on this very coming Sunday!!!
