Yer on the radar now Mike.
You might want to look into getting a lawyer.
Either that or get another employer.
You need to countersue that man for harassment. Can’t let the politically correct thought police get the upper hand.
Honestly, I wouldn’t go to any “hearing” with your bosses, without your lawyer present.
If you’re with a Fortune 500 Company...good luck.
Repeat your story as you have here, how the word was meant, and even then, you still apologized. Don’t grovel, remain calm, and don’t be angry.
If they can’t accept it, then they are fascists and the politics of such a place would be too much to bear in the long run anyway.
Don’t say a word without an attorney present.
Make clear that you will pursue legal recourse for false accusation and a hostile work environment.
first error, apologizing. You empowered a nitwit.
“that it was an unforgivable act as far as he goes.”
Always with the dramatic.
The answer is right there but you don’t see it. Fight fire with fire. Claim you’re also out of the closet, and just as gay as him. His case will fall apart. I know, that’s the last thing you want. But it will save your job. You will know you’re not gay, and can deal with the consequences far easier than getting railroaded out of a job. Anyone comes on to you, push them away and claim to be loyal to your significant other (made up of course).
The Gaystapo is a shining example of intolerance.
Why would he assume which meaning of the word you meant? I think he was jumping the gun, thinking that you were referencing his life choices or that of other homosexuals. Why would he immediately think the worst?
Good luck. The protected groups can feign offense and get whatever they want. He will likely be running the company soon.
Call it the Obama Orbit.
Also do NOT resign, under any circumstances. Make them fire you. If it goes that far, make stink and be sure you get maximum $$ from it.
I’d say you are being targeted because of your sexual orientation, which is not a violation of Federal law, but it may well violate the employment discrimination laws of your state.
If you were a homosexual, you could use the word “queer”, with its traditional meaning, as you did, or with the slang meaning, and there would be no hearing. Therefore, there is only a hearing because of your orientation, and that means, if you live in a state where sexual orientation is a protected class, they are violating that law.
You need a lawyer, or some legal representation, because they have no intention of listening to your side. Your employer is taking what they consider the path of least resistance. If you belong to a labor union, that may help.
This is speeding toward ‘wrongful termination’.
Unless you signed some agreement to a “Zero Tolerance” policy of discrimination, which may or may not allow for any mistakes, you can say, I should have first received a verbal or written reprimand and a short period of probation I was not given any opportunity to be educated on company policy and to later implement said policy in a correct fashion. There has been no recorded effort to train you in the manner of behavior they seem to prefer.

OMG. You have offended the hypersensitives. Keep a written record of every single thing that happens with regard to this for your attorney. Consider finding an attorney ASAP if you don’t have one. Do you have job reviews, awards, commendations, kudos to refer to regarding your job history and performance? You’ll need all of it. You probably shouldn’t approach this person on your own anymore.
Sorry you’re going through this.
And never, never, never give up!
