Kevin Jamison has laws restricting gun rights in his sights (Missouri)

Kevin Jamison knows some people don’t care for him.

OK, his word: They “loathe” him.

He’s the gun guy.

He heard that very phrase at a garage sale — “Hey, it’s the gun guy!”

To gun owners, gun sellers and strict constitutionalists, he’s the calm, learned voice of reason.

To those who think the Second Amendment is as outdated as a spittoon, he’s dangerous.

Both sides, though, would probably agree that Jamison, 62, a Northland attorney, is one of Kansas City’s most public and prolific voice for gun rights.

His office is dark wood and leather. He wears a bushy beard and walks with a cane. He doesn’t argue guns with patriotic zeal or emotional bluster.

He comes at it as a matter of law.

He wrote the book “Missouri Weapons and Self-Defense Law.” He writes a column in Concealed Carry Magazine called “It Doesn’t Have to Make Sense, It’s Just the law.”

He’s a concealed carry instructor, speaks to groups regularly and frequently writes letters to the editor.

Law enforcement officers, judges and lawyers — even the occasional prosecutor — call for his advice on gun law. As one former police officer said, “Nobody in Missouri knows more about gun law than Kevin Jamison.”

Joan Bray, who spent 18 years in the Missouri General Assembly, remembers Jamison, and not fondly. He has done far more harm than good, she said.

“People like this guy are really a corroding force in our society,” said Bray, a Democrat from University City in St. Louis County. “They are not a policy builder of good things. They are the ‘guns-are-the-solution’ crowd.

“I like to think they are a minority, but they shout the loudest.”

Joan Bray believes people who openly support gun rights are in the minority. She must not be aware of how anti gun efforts are failing on almost every front. She is in denial as part of the “criminals are not the problem” movement.

People like Bray need to be around as a reminder of the pointlessness of liberalism.

“I like to think they are a minority, but they shout the loudest.”

I like my little bubble of wishful thinking.

I’m thinking her photo is used as the illustration any time the story calls for “brainless twit.” She certainly hasn’t been paying attention that the flow is moving against her.

Look at any liberal and I’ll show you someone who creates their own reality on a daily basis. Facts mean nothing to them. Precisely why liberalism is a mental disorder.

He’s for gay marriage; I’m against it.

But I agree with him on the Second Amendment.

Do you think the Ferguson free-for-all was designed and implemented to make the voters afraid of guns? I mean, what would happen if the rioters carried guns?

As I recall, the free-for-all inspired thousands of people to buy guns. But the left-wingers will not hesitate to twist this around.

I am open to suggestions about what aspects of RKBA remain to be restored in Missouri. The highest priority candidate that I have for legislative attention is to allow concealed carry on buses and public transport like light rail.

I strongly suspect that Joan Bray is a serious corroding force in society. She sounds seriously destructive.
