House Majority Whip Scalise confirms he spoke to white nationalists in 2002
The Washington Post ^ | December 29, 2014 | Robert Costa

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), the House majority whip, acknowledged Monday that he spoke at a gathering hosted by white nationalist leaders while serving as a state representative in 2002, thrusting a racial controversy into House Republican ranks days before the party assumes control of both congressional chambers.

The 48-year-old Scalise, who ascended to the House GOP’s third-ranking post earlier this year, confirmed through an adviser that he once appeared at a convention of the European-American Unity and Rights Organization.

That organization, founded by former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, has been called a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Boy, the Republican Establishment really knows how to vet their candidates, don't they?

Im pretty sure Haley Barbour and David Vitter have been accused of talking to different people.

Boehner wants to hold a hearing for the Ferguson thugs.

I wonder if the SPLC considers the Congressional Black Caucus a “hate group”?

The term “racism” was invented by communists, and is used to destroy cultures and defuse (and render impotent) those with differing points-of-view on “racial” issues. That being said . . . True “racism” is desirable as it merely cements cultural and social bonds that are necessary for a society to function and flourish. True “racism” does not connote either inferiority or superiority of any racial group, but merely denotes commonality of purpose and advancement within each respective racial group.

Blacks have the NAACP and Congressional Black Caucus, Hispanics have La Raza and Mecha, Jews have the $PLC and ADL. These are all “racist” organizations that serve to promote the interests (and political power) of their respective races.

The double standard and bigotry shown in the original post is disgusting.

Nonetheless, the SPLC is a real hate group - Nothing they say has any value on the issue.

I’ve read the entire article.
Anything with David Duke should have been avoided, but it’s not lethal, unless the GOP-e wants to cave.

called a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Sounds like a badge of honor to me.

The SPLC is probably the most dangerous intelligence
organ in the entire country.

Republicans always cower in fear at even a hint of criticism. Democrats, on the other hand, blow it off and move forward. Criticism slides off of them like water on a duck’s back. There’s a lesson there but the Stupid Party will NEVER change. Ever.

The National Council of La Raza is an overtly ethnicist, racist, seditious and anti-american organization which was founded by violent people who don’t think the Southwest of the United States is legitimately part of the United States.

They get tens of millions of taxpayer dollars every year and are courted by national level politicians constantly.

Need we say more?

The NAACP is by name a racist organization. How many people/politicians have spoken to the NAACP and its supporters?

Scalise should spend the next month palling around with Al Sharpton as a joke and and espousing Sharpton’s views. Scalise needs to speak out against the Greek homos.

Scalise doesn’t have anything to really do he already funded Obama for the next 9 months. He should go on an apology tour with Sharpton as a joke.

Maness should be careful not to pile on. Maness screwed up when he attacked Cassidy for saying Harry Reid was running a plantation.

Whoever replaces Scalise will be worse. Who is there Roskam or Ann Wagner or Pat McHenry?

Scalise is about 80% on conservative ratings. His team are actually worse than him.

Did Rove tell Bush it was a bad idea to speak to the NAACP in 2004?

Jeff Sessions had it right when he said the ACLU and NAACP are a bunch of commies.

The SPLC is a hard-left hate group who encouraged a nutter to go on a shooting spree. They should’ve been sanctioned a LONG time ago.

This is what happens when democrats smell blood.

Republicans have had plenty of opportunities to run the same political game - more opportunities - yet sit picking their nose. Its as if they don't care whether they wield political power or not, they're just happy to hold their own little offices.
