And will the Repugnant perty be making a winning issue of that idiotic tax?

Gray Davis was recalled in part over a small car registration overtax.

soon? Its here. Paid 1.85 in houston this AM on the way to the airport, so I’m sure there is cheaper gas if one takes the time to look. Here in Denver hovering around the 2$ mark...

In other words, gas maybe might come down to the price when obama took office. Is he going to refund us for the last six years of ripoff, then?
, ?

0bumble alluded to low gas prices when enumerating his “multitudinous accomplishments” the other day. Any improvement in the economy is in spite of the Obamanation’s efforts to turd-worldize the USA.

It will not go below $2.00 here in Pa. The gas tax will see to that. In fact, with a new Democrat governor who loves taxes and a compliant Republican legislature we might see it go higher.

One more reason the GOP ought to get in front of this issue, and remind voters that Zero had absolutely nothing to do with this drop. It was achieved—almost entirely—through fracking and the private sector. If Barry had his way, we’d all be paying $5.00 a gallon (or more) and looking for places to recharge our electric cars.

You don’t need a PhD in economics to understand that cheap energy can fuel an economic boom. Along with Keystone pipeline bill, Republicans need to send Obama legislation that opens off-shore areas and public lands to exploration, and provides incentives to build new energy infrastructure, i.e., refineries and export terminals. Let him veto it, and hang it around Hillary’s neck for 2016.

There’s $1.749/gallon (regular) here at one of the Sam’s Club stations in San Antonio. As in NOW.

FYI, I found a great inflation calculator at http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm

$1.75/gallon now is equivalent to $0.26/gallon in 1968, the year my father got our 1969 GTO (Premium only). Premium at that same station is now $2.19, equivalent to $0.32 in 1968 (and I remember Dad paying about $0.37 for premium then).

Note that my father’s GTO got maybe 15 mpg on the highway under ideal conditions. Compare/contrast to a typical (much faster and better handling) muscle car of today, which gets say 22 mpg highway: GTO - 2.4666 cents/mile; 2015 muscle car 1.4545 cents/mile, inflation adjusted.

Folks, TODAY is the good old days for gasoline cost per mile.

Note that the Iranians are at least as big of an existential threat to the Saudis as the Russkies...unless Putin goes off his rocker when oil gets to $50/bbl. and tries to invade Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, I’m enjoying my $1.75 gas already, courtesy of Sam’s Club, the U.S. fracking industry and the Saudi Oil Ministry. Thanks, guys!!!

Oh, and lest I forget:

FUBO!

It’s been ‘splained to me that the Houston stations that are still charging over $2.30 a gallon are NOT gouging or profiteering on the higher prices.

It ALWAYS lags when the price drops and hikes occur THE DAY supply is threatened (long before they have bought their next fill up).

I’m jealous after reading all the gas prices posted on this thread. We still have $2.88 around here.

Propane in SW WI is way down. Last fill I paid $1.77/gal, down from $1.89. Last winter it went as high as $6+change in January. I use the 20# cylinders in my business and they are now around $15.00+change, down from $18.00+. I think they went as high as $22 last winter.

Amusingly, last couple of years we have had no summer fill price break and no contracts. All fills are at market. The supplier wouldn’t fill until we were at 20% and if you wanted to top off a tank, they insisted on a minimum of 200 gallons and otherwise added a surcharge. When they came out last month, the shop tank was well over 60% and they filled it anyway. They use some formula to tell them when you are in need of gas and they are always wrong. I usually have more than they thought I did.

I think they are desperate to sell gas before it drops further in price.
