A 24-year-old police officer and a suspect died after a shootout Saturday afternoon.
Officer Tyler Stewart, 24, died at Flagstaff Medical Center after he was shot by a suspect in a domestic-violence case, police said.
Stewart was looking for the suspect about 1:30 p.m. in the 800 block of West Clay Avenue when a man identified as Robert W. Smith, 28, of Prescott, fired several shots at the officer, police said. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, police added.

How tragic. He hadn’t even been on the job for a year yet.

Very sad. I was so hoping when he was listed in “serious” condition he would make it.

Shootout? Did the officer get off a shot or even have his gun drawn. These editors are negligent when they slant stories or don’t report details that contradict their narrative.

Again, a poorly written report.
Did the officer manage to kill the suspect before he died, was the suspect killed by another officer, someone else in the house or did the suspect kill himself?

Domestics are notoriously dangerous. Where was his partner? I can’t believe they would send him out on a domestic by himself. RIP officer. Prayers up for you and your loved ones. Very sad.

“domestic-violence case”
Any cop will tell you, domestic disputes are some of the most dangerous calls they get.
Tragic. Thank you for your service, Officer Stewart. RIP.
