Wishing You and Yours a Very Merry Christmas (Sen. Frank Lasee, WI)
Lasee's Notes ^ | 12-24-14 | Frank Lasee

Oh! But he was a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, Scrooge! A squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous old sinner! - Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

The Ghost of Legislative Sessions Past:

Wisconsin was in bad shape in 2009. With rising unemployment and a staggering decline in state revenues, experts advised us to brace for the worst. Wisconsin lost nearly 120,000 jobs that year and the state unemployment rate hit a 27-year high of 9.4%. Business morale was down and families were feeling the pinch. Democratic out of control spending by the Democrats and dubious budget accounting practices by the Doyle administration left Wisconsin with a $3.6 billion shortfall heading into 2011-2013 biennium, after a 5 billion dollar tax increase. These crippling tax increases and burdensome regulations hindered new investments and like Ebenezer Scrooge’s office, left Wisconsinites in the cold.

The Ghost of Legislative Sessions Present:

Property taxes are down: to begin with. Governor Walker and Republicans in the State Senate and Assembly passed a $400 million property relief package that lowered technical schools levies and, in turn, reduce property taxes. On average, the difference that a typical homeowner will pay in 2014 compared to 2010 is $141 less. If Wisconsin had stayed on the same path from 2010-2014, as it did from 2006-2010, property taxes on a typical home would be $385 more than they are today. Over a 4 year period the projected property tax savings are $816. That’s real money that Republican reforms have put back in families’ pockets, money we all can enjoy.

There’s more good news, since taking office, Governor Walker and Republicans in the Senate and Assembly have eliminated the $3.6 billion deficit and created more than 2 billion dollars in tax relief. Wisconsin’s unemployment rate has decreased to 5.2 percent and the state is poised for new business growth in 2015.

“Men’s courses will foreshadow certain ends, to which, if persevered in, they must lead,” said Scrooge. “But if the courses be departed from, the ends will change. Say it is thus with what you show me!” - Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol

The Ghost of Legislative Sessions Future:

The future of our great state depends on the course of action we take today. Do we pass laws and regulations that return us to an era of high unemployment and unrestrained taxes, or do we legislate to limit government growth and encourage business investment leading to more employment growth?

To keep Wisconsin moving forward we need to remember the lessons of the ghosts of legislative sessions past, present, and future and make the necessary reforms to keep the growth of government in check and ensure a successful future for our families.

Merry Christmas to all, and in the words of Tiny Tim, "God Bless Us Every One."

Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the State Capitol Christmas is a time to gather round with family and friends and share in the joy of the season. I encourage you to take a moment from the hustle and bustle of the day to enjoy each other’s company and enjoy holiday traditions, old and new. One tradition that has stood the test of time is Charles Dickens’ classic, A Christmas Carol. In the story, a mean-spirited, greedy old man, Ebenezer Scrooge, is met by three spirits: past, present and future. Together they guide him to a better and more charitable path. Much like Ebenezer Scrooge, government could use some lessons on becoming less greedy and doing a better job with our resources. Let’s take a moment to reflect on legislative sessions past, present and future and learn from the lessons they teach.

My 90 year old aunt has voted Dem her whole life...was telling me Walker cutting taxes was helping her stay in her home.

“My 90 year old aunt has voted Dem her whole life...was telling me Walker cutting taxes was helping her stay in her home.”

Sadly, it is most likely that for all of her 90 years, she has consumed and believed the steady diet of DemoRAT Bull$hit and believed every word of it. And here we think the Blacks were the only group that’s been enslaved in this country. The DemoRATs are an equal-opportunity party of Communists, Marxist and “Progressives” who think that they alone should be allowed the privilege of deciding how we all should live. They are the Gruber Party. The Scott Walker Story should be required reading for everyone.

Very creative missive! Loved it! We’re going to go see the tree on Saturday if possible. Hopefully the Unionista ‘Crapitol Singers’ are taking a Festivus break, LOL!

Merry Christmas, AFTR! It’s been a wild ride these past few years, but we, and WISCONSIN, are so much the better for it!

Love My Gov! *HEART*
