Watched excellent 1940 film “The Mortal Storm” on TCM over the weekend - early Hollywood picture to take on Hitler before we even got into WWII - one line in the movie hit me particularly, when one of the Nazi youth was lecturing one of his former friends about the rise of the party and what it would mean for Germany - “We will find it necessary to sacrifice the individual for the good of the many” - sounded very much like the kinds of stuff we’ve heard from Obama and his leftwing cronies about the necessity of individuals giving up their interests for the greater good - will history repeat.....
You are both correct....I was surprised when I learned, only as 45 year old graduate student, that Nazis were called “rightist” and communist “leftist” because they sat on the corresponding right and left sides of the aisle in the Reichstag (before the Nazis burned it down).
IMHO, people should do what I do, and read it. I didn’t ever come out sympathetic to the author. In fact, I found myself disgusted and pretty disturbed at the reality that the language of tyrants is universal, and the rants of president Ahminejad were nothing new, there’s a great value to hearing the words of the enemy, and an awakening to the world and what is going on.
Thank you for posting this! What an excellent video. Pointing out that any governing philosophy that needs and uses lots of coercion is evil basically. And fails.
I often think there are two types of political philosophies (maybe of people, too): Control Freaks and Freedom lovers.
The Tea Party and Libertarians are Freedom Lovers. Everyone else is on the control freak side. Including the eGOP, democrats, and, unfortunately, certain religeous groups and movements. Food for thought.

To be blunt, there was a great deal of rightwing opposition as well. Frankly I would say more than from the left.

You are correct, but a good number of demonstrations were organized by the leftists. The left wanted us to enter the war on June 22, 1941; the rightists on December 7, 1941
