I remember when I was a kid the was the John Belushi parody of Cocker on Saturday Night Live.
I didn’t get it because I had no idea who Cocker was.
That performance by John Belushi was one of the finest impressions of one person by another person I have ever seen.

I remember that one! That was incredibly funny. IIRC, Cocker was hosting SNL that night too.
Yes, I think more people know of him from the Belushi parody.
3 posts in and we have the John Belushi parallel. Exactly what I first thought of too as I read the headline.
Belushi was dead-on a good impersonator.
That being said - RIP Joe Cocker. Condolences to his loved ones.
Yes, I recall that parody as well. . .and I also recall Belushi stating that his parody of Jim was the only skit he regrets doing.
I saw Cocker a couple times in the last 20 years. He was still doing an excellent show.
I was a huge fan of the original Not Ready for Prime Time Players. We would be sure to get back to our college apartment by start time on Saturday night to watch SNL.
Cocker got the last laugh on Belushi by a lot of years.
