That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach. - Aldous Huxley
I like quotes. Quotes are wisdom for those with short attention spans. They are disregarded by many as irrelevant platitudes or obsolete; however, they are knowledge, often hard-earned and considered by their authors to be important enough to be passed on. Ive chosen the above quote for today, not only because it is always relevant, but because we bear witness to a time where the political left of this country is trying to realize Aldous dystopic Brave New World (which Im reasonably sure he meant as a warning, not a blueprint).
To this end, the left has slandered any group that has opposed their fundamental (Socialist) transformation of America, and they love one name more than any other: Nazi (the 4-letter N word). But how accurate is this? What traits do the political left and right really share with this infamous party of villains?
Lets first discuss what exactly it was to be a Nazi. Nazi is short for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers Party); as the name implies, they were socialist and staunchly anti-capitalist. This contrasts sharply with the Republicans, Libertarians and Tea Partys pro-capitalist anti-socialist viewpoints, but does align quite nicely with the current Democratic Party platform. In fact, if you compare the Democrats with any other Socialist Party (e.g., UK Socialist Party http://www.socialistparty.org.uk/), you will fine very few philosophical differences. This is also demonstrated by Obamas support for Occupy Wall Street and various other anti-capitalist movements.

You are right, that table is great. Well done. Thanks for the link.
Without exception, every generation considers itself to be the smartest generation to have ever existed (despite clear evidence to the contrary). I wish this one would realize it isnt, and try to learn something from history.

nOOb?
1,2,3,4....
What?
Both the NAZIs and the Democrats were/are anti smoking. Both the NAZIs and the Democrats supported vegetarianism.
The premise of the article was a love affair with a four letter “N” word.
nOOb is four letters.
I see, gettin’ late.

Here is what bugs me about the over comparison of Romney Care to Obama Care:
Romney Care is compatible with the long forgotten and seldom referenced, 10th Amendment, while ObamaCare is not.
If a state wants to vote in Romney Care they can do so, but if the Federal government wants to impose Obama Care on the nation that is not constitutionally compatible.
Sorry if this is off the topic of the main thread. But it has bugged me for some time.
Homosexuality was/is rampant and condoned in both the NAZI & Democrat parties.

I think this is the wrong question. If we want to examine the issue Nazism, we need to look at ( ahem ) history, in particular the 1930's ... the rise of Nazism. During and after the War, Churchill was valorised as a lone voice who saw it all coming, but what about all those others? Our view of the 1930's has been obscured by revisionism, whereby the great mass of those indifferent, or even favorable, to the Nazi movement, scrambled to obscure and erase this episode. It is still possible to find hints of it in, of all things, "English philosophy", for example, where this sympathy is spoken of in obscure terms, in retrospect. And well, I hardly need mention Lindbergh, with whom I have the greatest sympathy because, as we see, who knew?
After all, our new ambassador to Hungary is a soap opera producer.

Show me your noobs.
I believe the chart should have included:

I called it first!
Well, I’m in the middle of getting scotched.
Still early...
Bump for reading later.
