The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has invited the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, to Moscow next year to mark the 70th anniversary of the Soviet defeat of Nazi Germany in the second world war, the Kremlins spokesman said on Friday.
It would be Kims first foreign visit since taking the helm of the reclusive east Asian state in 2011. His personal envoy travelled to Moscow last month as part of efforts by the two Cold War-era allies to improve relations.
Yes, such an invitation was sent, a Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told the state news agency, Tass. Russia marks the former Soviet Unions 1945 victory every year on 9 May.

Does Lil’ Kim have the same fear of flying as his dad? His dad had a custom built train carriage to get around as he refused to fly.
History in the making.
NK has the desire and the will while lacking ability. Putin will no doubt help him. They both want to punish the West.
These two getting together, not so good.
Not so good.
Ronald Reagan didn’t like flying but he did it anyway. I’m a private pilot and I have a moderate fear of heights. I have no fear inside an airplane but on a really high ladder I am not doing very well at all. I have to make myself climb it. It’s weird....
So he’s allying with China, NK, Cuba, Iran, and Syria. What a gang of homicidal lunatics.
Pray for America.
Obama will invite Castro.
I wonder if Lil Kim will feel an inferiority complex being in the same room as the virile Putin?
Bier summit for America?
A third rate tinpot dictator pees on O’s territory and he runs and hide.
Now we know who was helping North Korea with the Hacking!
I thought Kim Dung was a cartoon character.
...”These two getting together, not so good”...
Doesn’t happen without China’s approval so perhaps with this new relationship between Putin and China China too is playing this game move.
If he can just corner the Islamic bunch...
Seriously, this is the alliance I’ve thought of as the most dangerous possible.
This does not bode well.
We’ve got a bunch of lackluster allies and a bloodthirsty set of enemies.
See, North Korea isn’t without a sense of humor. There’s the North Korean Moe now...
Putin is only 5’7 I believe, and flabby as hell. Even Kim can’t be that intimidated.
I doubt helping but no doubt the next time they will.
Russia is still mildly angry about Stuxnet and since Putin saw Kim get away with a cyber attack on American corporations, I can easily see him lending help to NK as long as he gets to select a few targets.
” Americans thought it funny when Russian contractors infected Iranian computers. Let’s see how much they like seeing their control systems played with.”
The other way around. Putin will show Lil Kim how the NSA setup NK as the fall guy for exposing the Sony execs’ anti-0bama jokes.
World is so screwed up!
