There’s a reason it has never been done this way and dare I sound like a sexist? Men and women are hardwired differently. This wouldn’t work because at the proposing age most of the time, (note the use of the word “most,” not all), most of the time the woman is ready to get hitched far sooner than the man. That’s just the way it is. If you had an equal amount of women proposing to men you’d see a lot more heartbreaks and a lot more premature breakups. If you two are right for each other, he’ll get to you when he’s ready, dear. If he’s taking too long, then move along.

It does seem that women are ready to settle down or get married before men are. This is a basis for a common female complaint that he fears commitment or is avoiding committing to her.
I’ve seen enough women, family members, friends of the family etc. Who after two or three dates they announce to everyone that this is the one for them etc. It doesn’t always work out that way but I’ve seen a number of women with such reactions.
Whereas I have never seen any men I’ve known making future plans after a few dates with someone new.

Just saying in my experience it seems that women make up their minds about a man and seem ready to.move forward, sooner than their men are ready to take those steps.

I agree. This also sounds sexist but is based on reading and observations. If a man has not proposed he is not ready — and it could mean the wife will be stuck wearing the pants forever. Very tiring. Women should quit chasing uncommitted men.
