Stutzman’s Star Role in the Cromnibus
NationalReview ^ | 15 Dec 2014 | Joel Gehrke

For a member of Congress to accuse his party leaders of lying to him, and for their aides to return the favor, is about as rare as the drama that surrounded last week’s procedural vote — a vote that led to the passage of the $1.1 trillion spending bill.

That’s the situation Representative Marlin Stutzman (R., Ind.) found himself in last week after he lent his support to the spending package at a moment when it seemed unlikely to ever receive a final vote. Stutzman initially voted no on what is known as “the rule” — the procedural step that allows House leadership to bring the bill to the floor for debate. When he and one other member switched their no votes to yes, they set the stage for the ultimate success of the spending package. The episode only heightens the distrust between leadership and conservative grassroots activists, who usually expect establishment Republicans to betray them. That suspicion has empowered junior lawmakers to override the will of more-senior Republicans.

Once in the limelight, Stutzman reacted by sending mixed messages and then falling as silent as the Republican leaders. He elevated the controversy Thursday night, when he claimed that his support for the rule was obtained under false pretenses...

No offense to Stutzman and the slew of 1st and 2nd term conservatives, but you all are enabling this behavior. Give the leadership a middle finger and replace them with someone who has a clue. They are steamrolling the conservative House members, because no one challenges them. I pretty much give up. They can win without me going forward.

Look folks, just as Obamacare passed by a SINGLE vote in the Senate, the Cromnibus passed by a single vote in the House of Representatives.

So, just as every Senator (e.g., Mary Landrieu) who voted for Obamacare was THE DECIDING VOTE for that monstrosity, so every member of the House of Representatives who voted “Yay” for the Cromnibus procedural vote was THE DECIDING VOTE FOR THAT MONSTROSITY.

Let’s remember that. Revenge is best served cold.

Who is this “Stutzman”; I know nothing about him but that he is an easily fooled Hoosier.

FTA:

“It makes sense that it’s Stutzman at the center of such a controversy. Throughout his four years in Congress, the tea-party congressman has been the backbencher with some of the closest ties to GOP leadership. But he’s also prone to bucking the party line when it violates his conservative principles.

Stutzman worked with Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) last October in an attempt to defund Obamacare by attaching the proposal to a must-pass spending bill that funded the rest of government, despite leadership’s initial hesitance to pick a fight over defunding Obamacare.”

just going on recall here. he was one of our tea party 2010 wave congressmen. he ran on promises that he was a real-deal conservative. he really sounded good in the campaign. i think levin talked him up. he got some of my early tea party money.

he was carried in by us and immediately stabbed us in the back along with most of the 2010 congress by putting in boehner and co and voting the wrong way in a procedural vote on amnesty (dreamers?) as i recall. anyway i called him on it and his staffer gave me a song an dance. that’s when i knew he’d fallen in with the wrong crowd.

he did the same thing, claimed he was misled by leadership (boehner and co) back then. apparently it’s a habit with him. he’s probably just another lying GOP politician.

To me, it’s a phenominon how these so called conservatives get snookered into voting Ai when they MEANT to vote Nay; and vice versa, and then the sleazy bastards come on TV and proclaim it to the world in a lame, mendacious attempt to cover his worthless tush!

“Earlier today, I supported the rule because I was informed by leadership that the cromnibus was dead and a short-term CR would take its place,” Stutzman said in a Thursday-evening statement after National Review Online reported on the apparent deal. “I was very surprised and even more disappointed to see the cromnibus back on the floor.”

If Stutzman was really lied to, and this is true, he should be screaming about it to the high heavens.

If he is lying, he should be primary dead meat road kill.

There are enough liars in the gope without TEA party guys voting against us and then lying to us about it.

I don't know the truth, but somebody does.
