“How could a white 17-year-old girl who was arrested for stealing be objective on the death of a 18-year-old man who was killed after police confronted him on stealing?”
I’ve no love for this reporter, and I think her publishing Wilson’s address was nothing short of putting a target on his back. She should lose her job for doing that.
All that said, the above quote is a bit of a stretch, IMHO. Wilson didn’t confront Brown over theft. He confronted him after Brown refused to obey a lawful order to get out of the middle of the street. More to the point, I don’t buy that a single incidence of teen shoplifting automatically makes one a cop hater. Teen shoplifting is not that uncommon. I don’t condone it, and I never did it myself, but it happens. Maybe it’s a thrill thing for some kids, I dunno. We all have more spunk than brains at that age. I’d bet that most of the kids who did that One Dumb Thing as a teen regret those actions. So, I think this woman’s bias against cops likely stems more from being in a snobby, elitist journalist clique than anything else.
I shoplifted a pair of pants when I was a teen. Not proud of that and I regret it to this day. Glad the Lord was born to save us sinners as we all have done wrong things.
