MEGYN KELLY, HOST: Breaking tonight on a day marked by what looks like a lone wolf terror attack overseas and an ongoing debate about how America has waged the war on terror. We tonight get our first chance to interview the man singled out by a controversial Senate report produced by the Democrats alone, and then attacked by some in the media. The man who personally interrogated Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.
Good evening and welcome to an extraordinary edition of "The Kelly File" everyone. I'm Megyn Kelly.
We have new details tonight on what may have inspired the lone gunman who staged a dramatic hostage taking in Australia that ended with three dead including the hostage taker. He was a self- described Islamic cleric who demanded police deliver him an Islamic State flag as he held more than a dozen people at gunpoint. We will get to that later on in this broadcast.

Saw a clip this morning on FOX...I am glad he has come forward. This administrations steamrolling of techniques that got valuable intell will cost the lives of Americans in the future. We are definitely at risk

Kelly handled this magnificently. If it were a real world she’d get a Pulitzer or equivalent.
I watched about 30 minutes of it, but then I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore; I get up early in the morning, so I turned my TV off. Normally I record the rest and watch it the next day. I didn’t even bother to set my cable DVR to record Hannity
She sure did and she was this afternoon on The Five talking about it
I thought it was the most compelling, thoughtful, intense, truthful and forthright interview I have seen in years.
Mitchell was quiet, articulate, keen and absolutely lucid on virtually everything. The raw anger and resolve underlying what he said and how he said it was the most compelling argument for what was done that anyone could ever make.
Young ms.kelly got it too. No snarky comments, no bombastic interruptions, just intense concentration on her part.
All I could think of was just damn. We got these kind of guys in that slot, and all the have is human trash like KSM.
Makes you think we might actually win this.
They have DiFi in the senate though.
