GOP elites in the Senate are understandably finding it arduous to defend their vote for a terrible budget bill, which ceded the power of the purse against a lawless president for the entire year. They are finding their vote against Cruzs constitutional point of order to be downright indefensible. As such, they have honed in on an argument that Sens. Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, by pushing the debate over the budget into the weekend, enabled Majority Leader Harry Reid to buy more time to confirm more of Obamas liberal nominees.
A number of establishment Republican senators, from Susan Collins and Jeff Flake to Bob Corker and Lindsey Graham, are asserting that by forcing a Saturday session of the Senate, Lee and Cruz gave Reid more time to chew up the cloture clock, which enabled him to confirm more nominees beginning today. Their stenographers at the Washington Examiner echoed this criticism of the conservative senators.
Not only is this spurious allegation a complete distortion of the current Senate dynamic, it is those who are making the accusation who are responsible for Reids extra leverage:
1) Reid Committed to this Long Ago: Their argument begins and ends with the assumption that Reid was planning to adjourn the Senate on Monday. The notion that Reid was not planning to stay in session for another week is absurd. He knows that he has the votes to confirm nominees (thanks to GOP capitulation on the nuclear option) and had every intent of exercising his final power play. Reid is even saying the Senate might stay in session through next Saturday. Reid had warned as early as two weeks ago that he would keep the Senate in session until Christmas, if need be, in order to confirm the nominees.

But remember, did John McCain quickly form another Gang of 14 when Reid decided to change the rules??
No, he didn't, for only conservative nominees are to be stopped, all democrat nominees are to be given smooth rides.
This Elite Republican Guard needs to meet the same fate as the last one did in 2003.
The argument is so bogus. If anything, had the Cruzers been able to tie up the US Senate in a fight against the Capitulation Act, it’s possible they’d never have gotten to those nominees.
The Cruz/Lee coalition has 22 Senators, that's half of the current caucus.
When the new blood arrives in Jan. they may have the numbers to depose McConnell and his sycophants.
I posted a WaPo story on FR the day after the election that quoted a senior Reid aide saying he would confirm Vivek Murty and others before the end of the year. Cruz had NOTHING to do with this. If anything, he kept some nominees from being confirmed by eating up time. Reid had planned to confirm even more, according to that WaPo article.
When will we take down these traitors by hiring P.I.'s to comb over their private lives and send the file to TMZ? This is war. Oh, and has Jeff Flake's son been indicted yet for that illegal kennel fire massacre in Arizona?
There are FR posters bashing Cruz as well. That's going to go over like the proverbial pregnant high-jumper.
Sen. Cruze is fighting the Battle of the Bulge and like General McAuliff, is refusing to surrender because the battle is worth fighting and he might win. America rallied to McAuliff's support; pray God that Cruze and allies are likewise supported.
“There are FR posters bashing Cruz as well”, Name them. Let’s FLUSH ‘em OUT!
I’m sure there are others. That’s where I stopped last night. I’m just tired of the GOP-E trolls.
I would be glad to share this if I could be sure it’s legitimate.
I hate this administration so much!
Thanks! I did share on FB. :)
