Originating source is LA Times so written commentary is full of disinformation.

But take-away is that Abbott's lawsuit was filed less than 2 weeks ago with 17 states total, then 20 states a week later, now 24 states and growing.

Abbott's lawsuit was filed in Texas federal court which drew a judge that is unhappy with Obama's immigration enforcement policies.

A parallel lawsuit via Sheriff Arpaio was filed in DC Circuit Court and won a legal victory for fast tracking.

Arpaio seeks a preliminary injunction against executive amnesty in the form of denying word IDs/permits, SSNs and all other documents that effectively legalize illegal aliens. Arpaio's motion could be heard this month.

Abbott's lawsuit also contains a request for injunction as well as for declaratory relief. I think Abbott's request for junction is for a permanent injunction.

If Arpaio wins on his motion, it should greatly strengthen grounds for granting Abbott's requests.

Both Abbott and Arpaio's legal filings are online.

In the meantime we should see more states join Abbott's lawsuit. 30 States is in my view the critical mass.

“Supporters of the the president’s proposal said the executive order is a welcome measure in lieu of comprehensive congressional action on the issue.”

Hey! How about just enforcing the existing laws and fixing the specific regulations that are tantamount to just life support mechanisms for immigration attorneys? Those regulations that make it a nightmare to go through the process legally is what needs fixing, not just another Comprehensive boondoggle meant to further get those attorneys hands in the immigrants, and our, pockets through Federal Fiat.

Even if all fifty-seven states join, Odinga will still go forward with amnesty, for his executive actions trump the Constitution.

The rule of law in this nation is DONE. What's legal changes from week to week depending on the needs of the regime.

Jim Wallis, longtime liberal Christian activist, doesn’t realize it is possible with illegals BOTH to follow the law and to be non-abusive. It is not abuse to follow the law and send them back to the waiting line. Abuse would be beatings, starvation, etc. We don’t do that, nor do we have to.

But, it isn’t fair to American workers or to those legally awaiting approval of immigration papers to allow illegals to break the law and jump line.

Agree. And, I think your critical mass number of 30 is about right as well. Being that this will eventually find its way to the Supremes, having a solid majority of states signed up add’s credibility to the case.

This costly method could have been averted with no-cost legislation over a weekend.

Seeing that it’s the Rat strategy to concentrate large numbers of their voters in electoral rich states to ensure that they at least hold on to the presidency, and Congress hasn’t shown much spine to stop executive branch overreaching by closing the purse, about the only way left to fight these things is at the state level and through the courts.

30 States is in my view the critical mass.

Would like to see 34 States sign on. That places percentage at 67%+ ... Would send a message to Congress and S.C. also if S.C. hears (imho). Two / Thirds necessary to convict and remove. Should 34 States sign on that could also signal a Constitutional Amendment would be possible in this matter.

So, they win the lawsuit, then what?

Obama just ignores it. He knows better than anyone else what “should be”.

Many thanks for the informative thread and your important input. This reminder should motivate the states even further:

Going into the 2014 midterms, organized latino pressure groups were heaping scorn upon taxpaying Americans opposed to Obama's E/O----the pressure groups were threatening Republicans with extinction---saying the latino vote was going to destroy them.

REALITY CHECK: 2014's deluge of American votes was a tsunami that submerged DEMOCRATS in waves of defeat. Democrats who ran on amnesty were soundly defeated.

Fox's Britt Hume said the latino vote was not even a factor. Republicans won an historic one-for-the-books election.

==================================================

REFERENCES: WET DREAMS OF ILLEGALS---TV news aired Murrieta, California taxpayers turning away bus loads of unaccompanied minors swarmintg the border last fall; taxpayers cited their concerns about public health (actions pre-dated child deaths from enterovirus and various Third World contaminates). American who dared speak out, were accused of fear-mongering and exaggeration by latino pressure groups.

At the La Raza conference in Cali (predates midterms)---Cong Luis Gutierrez (Dem-Ill) lacerated Republicans over amnesty; he threatened Republicans---saying vengeful latinos would make sure they never win another presidency. And who could forget the imbecilic Gutierrez strutting around, crowing about "having the House votes" to pass the Senate amnesty atrocity?

La Raza President/ and chief hater, Janet Murguia, told hyphenates that it sickened her to hear Americans chanting. She accused Murietta, Cali protesters of having "cloaked their hatred in patriotism" by shouting "'USA! USA!' again and again."

"It mademe angry," she said. "In fact, I was outraged."

Murguia demanded amnesty and said the road to the White House for Republicans goes through the Latino community and La Raza. She also said Republicans who want to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program will not get Hispanic votes.

(waiting for hysterical laughter to die down)

This is fantasy - wouldn’t it be fun if there are policemen or immigration officials at places where they file application to note (or just appear to note) their (illegal alien) identity,
or just have rumors spreading far and wide that obola’s amnesty is a tool to draw them out to be deported.

The left play dirty. We can learn from them.

Michigan has joined the lawsuit against Obama's immigration order. Once again proving the superiority of an elected Attorney General in a state with a pro open borders governor.

Interesting that NGOs such as “The Nature Conservancy” and “Greenpeace” can bring suit against the Executive Branch (AKA: EPA) to get them to address national security “impact” concerns related to emissions, yet...

NGOs such as “Minutemen” are routinely denied litigation access against the DOJ, INS, etc. for national security “impact” concerns related to FELONIOUS immigration.

Legal Standing, in our currently SAD STATE means ^money given to a ruling party^.

Don’t even have to read what states. Minnesota will never be on that list with all of the Democrats flying around like mosquitoes stinging whomever they come in contact with. They welcome anyone, anything liberal.

24 States? Getting closer to the number required to call an Article V convention to consider amendments to the Constitution. If there is sufficient consensus for 2/3 of the States to ratify any amendment such a convention would produce, this is better than sending a lawsuit into an unreliable judicial system. I would also hope that calling for such a convention would be such a threat to the status quo in Washington as to cause a change in behavior.
