We were at a pueblo in NM years ago. Taking their picture was “forbidden” because they would lose their souls or some such BS. However, if you paid them $5 you could take their picture (apparently without their soul being disturbed). Indians usually make everything “sacred” if it fits their plans. Are their casinos sacred? Is the alcohol they consume or the dugs “sacred”?

Yes, you are right. That is BS. I think you are mixing up mythical Amazonian tribes with Pueblo Indians here.

I grew up there, and it is more an issue of not having their homes traipsed through like public zoos with no privacy at all, rather than “losing their souls” or other such ludicrous nonsense.

And I don’t begrudge their making money through tourism and other methods. They have been kicked to the side and p!$$ed on by governments and people for hundreds of years. They deserve some way of exacting revenge or punishment for their losses over the years. (Think casinos....)
