Obamacare Enrollees Could Get Hit With Surprise Costs (Obama's tax scam getting called out)
Yahoo ^ | 12/12/2014 | Brianna Ehley

Returning Obamacare enrollees have until next Monday to decide whether they want to keep or switch insurance policies for next year. If they do nothing, they will be renewed automatically in their old plans.

In addition to getting hit by higher premiums, auto-enrolling in health exchange plans next year could hit consumers’ wallets in another way. Because of the complicated way federal subsidies are calculated, some subsidy-eligible consumers could be surprised with a lower tax credit than last year - further driving up the total cost of their health insurance.

Here’s how it works: Subsidies or tax credits are calculated by using the cost of the so-called “benchmark plan” or second-cheapest “silver” plan sold in the area where the consumer lives. If the cost of the benchmark plan changes, which is likely the case, the tax credit or subsidy changes as well. People who don’t enroll in the new benchmark plans will then have to pay the tax-credit difference if the new benchmark plan is cheaper.

The media is prepping for its demise, either by SCOTUS or the fact most average families can’t afford this, with or without subsidies.
My experience was that I had a private plan for wife, myself and 15 yo kid. I paid $650 month with $1500 deductible. That plan is now $980 month with $3000 deductible but I qualify for a whole $140 month subsidy.

I thought Obama kept telling us it was not a tax? Do you really believe Obama is the type of person who would look you straight in the face and lie to you without even blinking?

No way. No way. Honest Abe, or is it "Honest Obama"?

Got the news today that my health care premiums are going up 10% for the same services. My employer is picking up 75% of that, but that’s another $50 out of my paycheck each month.

$50.00 I won’t be putting back into the Economy, and $50.00 that I most likely won’t even USE for healthcare, as I’m healthy as a horse.

It’s madness! Thank goodness I LIKE beans and rice, canned tomato soup and mac-n-cheese! Grrrrrrr!

And I know others have had their premiums really jacked up; my employer was smart enough to batten down the hatches for us the MINUTE 0bama was elected. That Evil White Christian Capitalist! ;)

When politicians saw healthcare insurance costs rise to the level that the employee federal withholding of taxes from wages was lower than the amount the employee was co-paying for insurance, the result is obvious!

Politicians follow the money. It's really all very simple to understand and I am not Gruber, nor a statistical modeling doctorate. We all know what Ben Franklin said about statistics.

I don’t smoke or drink. I’m at about 14% body fat and in excellent health. At my family’s insistence I looked up the cost of the lowest level plan. I’m 60. The plan cost $8,000/year and I had to spend $10,000 out of pocket before the benefits kicked in. There was no prescription health coverage. That’s $18,000/year before I can actually use the “insurance.” Think of it as a new car. That is more than I’ve ever paid per year in mortgage payments. Think of what you could buy with $18,000 per year.

I’ve gone to the doctor twice and it cost me $250 each time. I can see a lot of doctors for that. If I really needed something major, other than a heart attack, I’d go to India for treatment. I figure the medical and travel cost will be well below the $18,000 figure.

This is what I’m looking forward to seeing:

“Reconciliation. Although the tax credit is paid in advance directly to an insurer on a monthly basis, it is in fact a tax credit that must be claimed on the taxpayer’s annual income tax return. Final eligibility for the credit, therefore, cannot be known until the taxpayer files his or her annual return, at which point household income for the year will be finally determined. A “reconciliation” must then occur between the tax credit already received and that to which the individual is actually entitled...

If the taxpayer turns out to have been eligible for more than had been paid, the taxpayer gets a refund. If, however, the government has paid more than the taxpayer in fact turns out to be entitled to, the taxpayer must pay the money back.”

http://healthaffairs.org/blog/2012/05/20/implementing-health-reform-the-premium-tax-credit-final-rule/

So if someone bought Obamacare on the market, and their wife got a part-time job, increasing their family income, then there is a good chance they will owe money back on their health insurance. How happy will they be when they have to fork over $$ or get a smaller refund ‘because of Obamacare”...

Heck, how happy will they be when they are required to file a new form as part of their taxes?

;>)

I pay $98 per week as my portion of really good BC/BS insurance thru my union contract with my employer. The contract is in effect until 2020. I pray they have Obamacare deep buried and the ground above salted by then.

Obamacare is designed to regulate your tax refund into a non-event.

One could say that if the USSC does its job then those subsidies are going to drop to Zero for many people. However I don’t even think that is true. Who here thinks that traitor Boehner won’t quickly change the law to include those states that did not set up exchanges. Come on- You know he will. He will tell you that the Apocalypse will happen if he does not. I don’t expect the Supreme’s to follow the law, but even if they do then it won’t matter.

...

You’re paying for someone’s birth control or sex change operation, so now they’ll have more money to put back into the economy.

Whatever’s left will line the pockets of the cronies at the insurance companies who will go out and buy a new jet. Then any money leftover will be used to wine and dine politicians along with free rides in the new jet.

Isn’t it wonderful when politician criminals create suffering throughout the population? We should be thankful that they care so much about everyone.

I have it on good sources(a relative in government policy) that there is a designed metamorphosis taking place within the insurance industry and government. There is a gradual plan to absorb the executives and employees of the health insurance companies into government employee positions as the answer to regulatory and administrative demand. One day we will wake up and the system will be single payer like a slow cooked frog. The jets will still be flying, champagne and conferences will still be plenty, huge armies of clerks routing denials of benefits will still be shuffling paper, and the grifters in charge will still be getting richer.
